Quote:The interesting thing is that those guys all need Blackmon on the field to be truly effective. But, as we've seen, Blackmon doesn't need them. I suspect the loss of Shorts, no matter how long it is, won't have a huge an impact on this offense as not having Blackmon on the field.

I agree to a point. Teams haven't had any tape of Blackmon in his first 2 games back. Lets see if he continues his progress with Shorts out and him now being the primary focus for defenses.

Does Megatron need anyone else on the other side to produce?

Same difference here....

I don't think anyone here has Calvin Johnson and Justin Blackmon in the same category at this point in their careers.

Again I like what I've seen from JB so far. But he hasn't really had any game tape for teams to scheme around. He does now, lets see if he can keep it up and hopefully reach Megatron status.

He's obviously not as big as Megatron, but he's more agile (as common sense suggests) and he makes the most of his talents.

He's uncoverable one on one already. Has strength beyond normal players his size and I don't think they'll be able to completely shut him down even in double coverage.
hoped to see him and blackmon play together more this season, so hope he comes back soon.

I've had the same injury.  I did it playing flag football, oddly enough.  It's not overly debilitating.  The only thing I had an issue with was raising my arm straight over my head, but I also had an AC separation as well and I'm not sure if that's what was causing it.  I think it will be more about pain tolerance for Cecil.  When I did it, I wanted to go back into the game and keep playing.

All shoulder sprains are different. He could be out 1 week or 4. Depends on how severe it is, which none of us know.

He doesn't has to have Calvin Johnson's size and speed to put up Calvin Johnson's numbers. Keep thinking Blackmon is not an elite type reciever all you want because you're not used to the Jaguars ever having anything, but dude is special.

In a season like this where the amount of wins we get is almost a hinderance to our future, why not be conservative with injuries like this to players that will probably be part of the core group going forward??

I'd absolutely keep him out this week for sure, and if it was an injury that could last upwards of a month+ , I would consider IR'ing him. Save him till next year when (hopefully) it will matter more with a new QB.

This post gives me the creeps because TMD made a nearly identical one near the end of last season when CSIII had a concussion and instead of being conservative Mularkey and Co. rushed him back only to be injured again.

Good memory

Hopefully, they'll exercise more caution this time.

Quote:Glad its not a dislocation, hopefully he only misses a few weeks.

If shoulders are like kneecaps a dislocation probably would keep him out 3 weeks. I dislocated both patellas four times. Healing time before therapy is now about one week. Assuming shoulders heal at the same rate, Cecil Shorts should be back after the bye week.

Aren't a seperation and dislocation the same thing?

Quote:Yes, being technical that is correct. But I wouldn't consider tearing your ACL a soft tissue injury but I get your point. Just trying to say trauma injuries cant be avoided.

Why not? Ligaments are soft tissues too.

The only way to completely avoid trauma is not play football, unfortunately. Any player who does not suffer a traumatic injury can call himself lucky.

Quote:This sucks man, it's like we can never have Cslll, Blackmon, Marcedes, and Ace on the feild at the same time...

When Cecil and Marcedes are back, all four will play together. Ace seems to be the answer at kickoff returns, even if he does not pan out in the slot.

Dr. Glitter knows.

That is exactly what Cecil must do every week - raise his arms over his head. This is an injury where the player's job description determines how long he is out.

Cecil has pretty much stated everything that I stated in that post.  He has issues raising his arm straight over his head, but its a matter of pain tolerance.  It shouldn't be bad enough where he can't play.  For me, it nagged on for 8-10 months, and I still occasionally have pain 6 years later, but its not the kind of injury that debilitates you at all.
