Another hint: the winner is in the driver's seat in the ACC Atlantic.
Quote:See the bolded word up there? Anybody who speaks English should know that means October 26, not October 19. Therefore, Big John was talking about Week 9.
No, anyone who "speaks English", and knows what week we are in at this point in college football knows what we are talking about.

I'd take it even further. The winner is in the driver's seat to win the conference.

How many times have we seen a top five team lose to an unranked team? More than I can count. It is possible the winner of that game will drop out of the top five and consequently any hope of winning the division title later on. Gators fans understand. We went from saying our game against South Carolina was the most important, to saying the game against Georgia was the most important, to thinking FSU was the most important.
BTW I would care about the FSU/Clemson game if only one team was in the top five. But when both teams are, it does not matter to me who wins.

That is assuming Ohio State is eligible for the Big Ten championship, of course. An article about the Wisconsin game said their bowl ban is one year, but at Northwestern, I heard Brent Musberger say they are not eligible this season. Somebody has the facts wrong.

Scasrecrow is going to hate me Saturday.

Beyond that if clemson wins they would coast until SCar and the championship against UM.  IF they can run the table that would give them a nice resume for a run at the MNC game.

See that is my point. Their game against FSU is only lthe most important until the next important game, not the most important game of the year.

That's deep

I think for both Clemson and FSU to get into the National Title they would

A. Need to go undefeated in the regular season.

-For Clemson this would mean they beat Georgia, FSU, and South Carolina (oh and my Citadel Bulldogs  )

-For FSU this would mean they beat Clemson and UF. Not as nice as if Clemson went undefeated, and maybe not as pretty as some

other teams overall, but I think it may be enough.

B. Win the conference to go to 13-0

c. May still need some help. If Oregon wins out, I think they are in. I still think the winner, even if one loss, of the SEC is in. But that's still debateable., and time will tell. Georgia could have helped Clemson by not losing again. Florida will help FSU if they can win the rest of theirs (and FSU beats UF in Gainesville)

Trav, is there a typo in your post? No way UF goes undefeated because they already lost two games. If you mean UM, you are thinking of the wrong game, because they would meet for the conference, not national, championship game.

If Clemson wins, will the first BCS poll put them over Ohio State, which has been #4 all season, or keep them at #5 and just let FSU drop to #6? Ohio State will win because Iowa sucks (even Scarecrow will admit that). I wil watch the game if the result has any effect on where Ohio State is ranked.

fixed.
Trav, you are still wrong. The loser of tomorrow night's game is not going to the BCS title game because you said they must both be undefeated and the winner is in the driver's seat for the ACC Atlantic title. There is no way both teams can play in the national championship game without both Alabama and Oregon losing.
