Lol, I have been talking to some Chargers fans on another forum and I asked them if Cox was playing bad and he said
terrible, just back and he blew it against the Raiders big time. As one commentator said, "Derek Cox BLOWS! He can't cover a bed and he definitely can't cover wide receivers!"
I seen the Raiders game and watched him give up one TD put I didn't know he was playing that bad. Its funny some people blasted Caldwell for not resigning him lol.
i was a big derek fan and hes been bad this year but the funny thing is, seeing as how bad hes been, hes been their best corner lol.
Derek Cox is in over his head. He has missed so many games that he's still learning, yet expectations for him are high.
Derek Cox was always overrated by people on this board.
I remember some tried to argue he was better than Revis because of PFF.
Yup. The Raiders first play from scrimmage the other night was a bomb TD to Streeter (I think). Cox was the defense, and it was bad. He totally got burnt. He's an ok player, but not worth near the money he makes. Some posters here really overrated him (understandable, I guess, when comparing him to what else the Jags had).
He's just average IMO
But but but he is elite! or at least top 10 CB!! Caldwell is an idiot for letting him go.
I have often wondered what the reaction would have been if Gene Smith had selected D. Cox with the first Third Round selection, then traded with New England for T. Knighton. Would Cox have been viewed differently? Would Knighton? Cox was always a decent starter, but his reliability was rather low.
Eric's head is going to explode!
Color me surprised.
I honestly expected Derek Cox to be injured by now.
He will be hurt by the end of the season

I've wondered the same and, yes, i believe that trade had a ton to do with expectations here for D. Cox.
Let it go guys. Is that what it's come to - rejoicing about another player playing badly (and we know that the comments of a few people on a message board is certainly the gospel) just because he's no longer on the Jaguars?
When Cox was able to play he was one of the best Jaguars of his time. I wish him good health and good luck with the Chargers.

If that happened, we would still be complaining about lacking a second round pick the next year to draft Sean Lee. It makes no difference because neither of them signed a contract extension.
But Caldwell is an idiot. I mean, he didn't even resign Derek Cox? He must have no idea how to build a football team. Could you imagine Cox and Ball on the field at the same time? We would have the best secondary in the league, easily.
Made the game ending pick tonight
Yeah I just seen it. He has always had good games here and there.
cox shutting down the colts as usual
Haven't watched him play in San Diego but we'll get a first hand look at him this week. I imagine he'll be lined up across from Blackmon most of the game.

Blackmon and Ball have done fine as replacements, point is without gutting the secondary we could've focused on the lines.
We'd have the best name combination for sure.
