Hmm, I have put on a few pounds since the last time I wore them. Perhaps I should put on a shirt.
Higher number of humans means that even if the percentage of psychopaths stays the same we still have a higher gross number of psychopaths. People are immoral beings and if it bleeds it leads, film at 11.

I wonder what was wrong with this old hag.  Dont see how anyone could do this.  Crazy lady has a mental illness.

Mental illness or not. It's very disturbing.
Mental illness? You think?

I can't think of a better definition.

Quote:What do you think this is, the 80's?

I wish!! I really miss watching Miami Vice...my Friday nights haven't been the same since!!
Am I missing something, or has there been a rash of baby killing grandmothers lately?

Makes you all warm and fuzzy doesn't it?

Not sure. I don't really follow the news anymore. It's rouhgly 75% negative anyways and it just makes me shake my head. I have heard some horror stories though. Remember that woman that was having a lot of her newborn infants die "mysteriously" of SIDS? When in reality she was smothering them to death because she had a sick fascination for pity?
Quote:yet the crime didn't occur in those decades did it - it occured now. i.e. product of environment/ learned behavior/ declining moral fabric.

The only reason you feel the need to insult me personally is because you know I have a point and todays society is largely garbage and continuing to decline and you don't want to admit it.

You're right.  This 62 year old grandmother probably spent her days playing violent video games involving sledge hammers and knives.

People never did these kinds of things years ago, right?  I mean, a simple google search would confirm that this is a relatively new thing where people do violent things, and it's all the result of a declining moral fabric, lousy environment, or learned behavior.  Mental health issues didn't happen back in the good old days you're opining for, right?

The hole in your logic is big enough to drive the planet through.

The only difference between the good old days and now is you didn't hear about these things back then.  And that's got more to do with access to information in general, than some decaying societal norms.  Bad things still happened, but there wasn't an Internet, or 24/7 news cycle reporting on this stuff endlessly.

I know you've got this "smartest guy in the room syndrome" thing going on, so you feel compelled to let us all know that you're an amateur sociologist/psychologist/mental health expert.  However, the reality here is you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

If this was some teenage kid with mental health issues who spent the majority of their time playing violent video games while not getting the kind of help necessary to assist, MAYBE you'd have a bar stool leg to stand on.  This is a 62 year old grandmother who cut and crushed an infant to death.  No sane person would do such a thing.

My physique hasn't been the same since.

Ahh...poor baby! Did you get some really bad bunions from wearing your shoes without socks?

No, it was the chafing scars from the collar of the pastel jackets over a v-neck t-shirt.  Was that cool, or what?

It's okay, he probably took a psychology/sociology class in high school. We should trust him on this.

....no, in college, thank you
Grandma is insane, and society is blamed?

I don't see the connection. I'm part of society, you are part of society. In a round about way, It is your fault.

Why did you let this happen? Stop screwing off, and do something to stop these crazy old people. This is your people, can't you control them better than this?

Insane old people are the ones making my life miserable, and no one seems to care.

Old person kills young person ... blame young persons society. Wink

Congratulations, so have I. Your notion that society is somehow worse now than it was is no less ridiculous because of it. According to Harvard Professor of Cognitive Psychology (AKA someone I, and anyone with sense, would trust more than you regarding matters such as these) as far as the whole of human existence is concerned, we're currently in the least violent period ever.

This woman's insanity isn't a result of societal problems today, if anything it would be a result of society when she was young and even that is a ridiculous claim. Sorry, TMD, but society isn't at fault because some insane woman decided to kill a baby. There have always been insane individuals, and the 80s weren't an exception.

Where are your responses? I'm somewhat confused.

You have it so set in stone that the 60's 70's and 80's were so great and peachy. Then you have the nerve to call insane people, "product of environment/ learned behavior/ declining moral fabric".

Get outta here.

Insane people that should be old enough where they would be a product of the environment in the 50s, 60s, and 70s more so than the last twenty to twenty-five years of "terrible societal influences", no less. TMD just can't admit that he is wrong, even though there have been mountains of evidence that says that human society has been messed up for the entirety of its existence.

I say that we should just be happy that we aren't pitting people against each other in death matches for fun like the Romans did, or sacrificing humans by cutting their hearts out like various Native American civilizations, or partaking in wars that last 100+ years like the French and the English. Is our society perfect? No, of course not, but we've certainly come a long way from the days where real hangings were family entertainment.
