I tried to tell some of you guys. Once he approach 30 years old, its pretty much over. The burst isnt there. Thats for most 30 year old men.
He's going through the motions. How can any player on this team be fired up at this juncture? He's doing what the fans are. Waiting to see what happens next year.
It's hard to run hard when you take two/three steps and someone is hitting you or hanging all over you...
It isn't that MJD isn't trying but you can see plainly he isn't his former self. To a trained Jaguars fan's eye he has lost a step or moving chains by himself as before. I don't really blame him the offense is just terrible and the box is always loaded with no blocking so it's a lose-lose so it isn't surprising that he isn't going 110% every snap. If he ends up with another season-ending injury his future will be in jeopardy. Don't assume he isn't aware of all this.

People undervalue the importance of Greg Jones.

I said it. Greg Jones was huge to MJD, whether you want to believe it or not. He was the only F/A i wanted to keep.

You're right.  He isn't getting old.  We're all getting younger around him.
Think he just needs more time. Last year was basically a chance for him to rest. He needs to get back acclimated to the game. I think he will be fine as the season progresses.

He's gotten better each game but, it will be a while before he's close to his old self.

He's really trying guys, but there's a ways to go.

Actually I noticed it as well. He was playing at half speed, had a burst here and there. Who cares. He will be suited up in a different uni next year anyways.

Since 2011, MJD has played in only 11 games, with very little training camp participation. I also think he needs more time to get back into playing shape.

He may or may not have lost a step from his top form, but he undoubtedly has a higher gear than what we are seeing now.

I think he continues to get better as the season goes on, and finishes on a strong note.
I saw too many plays that the old MJD would have broken. Simple one-man tackles that MJD routinely shed will almost always take him down now. When was the last time he bounced off a defender? For a RB, whose skills consist almost entirely of bouncing off defenders / over powering them, it doesn't look too good for MJD. I don't know if its because he has 10,000 yards from scrimmage or the previous injury, but he isn't the same RB. I'm sure that our OL is hurting his performance, but there were things that MJD did well (with or without good OL performance) that he isn't doing well right now.

I predict MJD will get better as the season goes on.

He looks fat and slow.

This is what I think as well. Last week was the first time I saw him use some burst. I think Fisch is trying to switch us back to a run oriented offense again, which is correct. I also think that MJD was not hitting the hole as hard the first couple games, but against the Rams he started doing it again. He will be fine. I hope he pulls the Freddy T and does the getting better as the season goes on thing.
Stop with the lack of effort stuff. If he wasn't trying he'd get himself killed out there
