Is reportedly on the trading block, I don't think we should give him a look in means of a trade because he'll eventually be released by the Bills. He wants top 5 money which will likely steer the Jags away.

Is he a ball-hawk like rangy FS like Earl Thomas? And what exactly would be top 5 money for his position?
He is definitely a "single-high" FS type of player - but not quite at the caliber of an Earl Thomas.

He did lead the league, or was one of the league leaders, in interceptions a few years ago.

They should have explored a 1 for 1 Monroe/ Byrd swap, if Caldwell was going to be happy with such a scant return as 4th/ 5th rounders.

Id sign bryd. Why not. We have the 2nd most cap space in the league.
We do have a ton of cap, and more coming when we get rid of some players with some bad contracts at years end. I'd personally rather see us sign a few others that may come available (preferably OG or pass rusher) but I think ultimately it comes down to te play of Evans. He's played well so far IMO but it is a long season. If he steps up and shows he can hold his own, I'd be fine with plugging a few other holes with the cap room we would use on Byrd.
