I will admit the last few years I thought this guy was a game manager at best. But I really do like what I have seen this year. Esp with games against Clemson, LSU, and SC already on the resume.
Even in the Clemson loss he didn't play terrible/bad. He went about his business against Clowney, and stepped up huge in the 4th vs. LSU. He also doesn't have a great defense (esp not by SEC standards)
So what are you thoughts on Aaron Murray (or as Key and Peele fans would say A'Aron Murray)?
Some team will take him in the 2nd or third round and he will be their Kirk Cousins.
I still don't trust his size or decision making skills. That INT he had where he threw it to the defensive lineman made him look like a midget. He throws a ton of balls directly eye level with the defense.
I would love it if we got Murray, I think he will be if not the best one of the best QB to come out of this class.
I think he's underrated. I think one thing he really does have to work on is maneuvering in the pocket to find throwing lanes like Drew Brees.
Used Brees as an example of a short QB that does it well, not saying Murray is going to be the next Brees.
I used to not like Murray that much. But he has proven to me that he might have something. He doesn't get rattled when the pressure is on. I like that.
If that

He's been overated since Saturday.

I doubt that, Matt Barkley couldnt even go in the 2nd round, Murray is a 3rd or 4th rounder, 4 year starter in a pro style offense, but he is not a NFL franchise QB, weak arm, short, small, throws a low ball. All his deep balls vs LSU were to wide of WRs, I dont know how LSU defense fell off so bad this year.
Remember I need to state this again he is a SR. 4 year starter, in college there is no way he should not look really good being in that system for 4 years, dont be fooled by that, it doesnt make him a great NFL prospect.
He'll have a long career as a clipboard holder/emergency starter. That's his ceiling.
I'm leaning to Mettenberger (he was awesomne under the pressure of playing the Dawgs in Athens)
or Conner Shaw.
They're both bigger and more mobile....but Murray would be a heck of an upgrade from what we have now.

I don't see Shaw as an NFL QB. His arm isn't very impressive. The most impressive thing about him is his ability to extend drives with his feet which won't work very well in the NFL unless you have a cannon for an arm to go along with it.
Mettenberger has a strong arm. I'm sure someone will pick him up.
Mettenberger is sewing up a first round pick for himself. His growth from the first half of last year, to the last half of the year, to this year so far is astounding. He is becoming what we all prayed Bray and Mallett would become except they never developed. Mettenberger is actually a QB now not just a huge arm.
Murray is not in the same conversation as him haha.

I disagree on Mallett. He was a really good college QB and would have been a first round pick if he was not a dufus.

Lol, well becoming not a doofus is part of developing.
Mallett was a beast in college. Who knows how he'll fare when he actually gets a shot in the league.
Bray could bomb it but wasn't nearly as talented as the narratives implied. He would've been drafted even after tanking every interview on size and skill alone if the latter was really there.
I really what I've seen out of Mett so far, but part of me wonders if it's all a product of Cam Cameron. Sort of like how Brady Quinn became the probable No.1 pick in the 2006 draft (if he had declared) under Charlie Weis but never really progressed after that.

Being a dufus didn't change the fact that he was a very good college QB.

But he didn't show any skill progression then, and he hasn't in his NFL career either. He just wasn't/isn't a good QB. He was a very good college "QB" because he has a superlative arm. There are tons like him throughout college history. Mettenberger looked like he was going down that path until mid/late last season, but he has grown leaps and bounds in the last 9 months or so.
The fact that it took one single game to make people awfully ignorant and wanting the guy in the first round, tells you all you need to know about how overrated he is right now.
He's hurt by his height, which I think is a bad thing to do. Very good QB.
Double post, oops!

Which game is that?
