Quote:Next to Jamarcus Blaine is the second biggest bust in the last 10 years
I would say that JR is still a bigger bust by a long shot due to his salary and the 1st overall pick being used on him by Oakland.
Quote:Gabbert is the worst starting QB I ever seen, i'm talking bout guy who is the official starter not a guy who had to play due to injury, but even Todd Bouman looked better then Gabbert after he got off his tractor
I'll take Gabbert over the latter portion of Leftwich. Then again, it's like arguing which turd smells the best.

Agreed. But in terms of their on the field production they are the same. As I pointed out in another post it could be argued Gabbert is worse. Russell went to a team that was bad and didn't turn them around. Gabbert went to a team that was respectable. And the team got worse. Much worse.
Quote:Atleast Jamarcus won 9 games!.. Yikes

Blaine would have to go 4-0, just to BE as bad as Jamarcus. Ouch!!!! That IS really bad, if you cannot equal the awful standard set by Jamarcus.

Flat numbers not taking into account games where they only played a series or half de to injury. It happened to both of them as both were hit by the injury bug. Plus the 2 game disparity is just me comparing Leftwichs first 2 seasons which he played 29 games in vs Gabberts total so far which is 27 games. If i add in Leftwichs 3rd season id have to go only 2 games in and i cant find those numbers anywhere.

Gabbert:

27 Games - 4176 yds - 21 tds - 22Ints - 5.51 YPA - 66.7 rating

Leftwich

29 games  - 5760 yards - 29tds - 26 ints - 6.7 ypa - 77.5 rating.

Side Note: Leftwich never went under 6 ypa to finish a season. Gabbert has yet to cross 6 itself much less better Leftwich. Leftwich also threw for 29 tds in 29 games beating the Akili Smith comparison of having more starts than TDs ala Gabbert. And before anyone discredits this by saying gabbert started x game but didnt finish it that same happened to leftwich multiple times and he still overcame that.

Unless Gabbert throws for nearly 1600 yds and 8 TDs while not throwing his now usual 2 picks per game then Leftwich was by far the better QB.

You would take Gabbert over Leftwich really? Come on now
Quote:I saw the comparison made between Blaine Gabbert and JaMarcus Russell and it made me look up their career stats.  I thought, it couldn't be this bad.  It scares me how similar these stat lines are.  At least we didn't pay Gabbert as much money as Russell stole from the Raiders.

Why did you show me this Wallbash  Sick
Quote:^ Only reason Russel is considered a bigger bust is because he was the #1 pick.

Jags gave up a 1st and 2nd rounder to move up 6 spots in the draft to get Blaine.
The only difference is that Gabbert is trying and is a good guy in the locker room. Their performances are interchangeable.

Prior to this weekend I was thinking that maybe there was one NFL team whose full set of quarterbacks was worse than ours or at least just as bad.  Now (after Cleveland, Oakland, and Minnesota got decent play from their backups) I'm certain we are rock bottom last.  In fact, we might be worse at QB than some college teams..

I was watching the Georgia vs LSU game this weekend and my thought was that both of those guys could easily give our QB's a run for their money.  Ohio State arguably has two guys who look better than ours but they are in a different type of system and not playing top competition right now so I'm not sure about them.

Quote:I just want Gabbert to get cut..... end the nightmare.
I doubt it! Youll have nothing left to talk about.
So Lame is just as bad if not worse stat wise than JR...BUT, he's a nice guy who's at least trying.

Okay..he's still terrible. Case closed. We'll be 0-16 this year.

only thing we need to worry about is another losing team trying to let us win so they can move up

in draft. can you imagine anyone playing WORSE than we have so far? Laughing

And what you left out is how many yards and TDs Russel ran for... Gabberst worse.
The Jaguars are the complete opposite of what the Broncos are.

hey as long as we are on the subject of comparisons......let's look at Mr. Even if he's released! Gabbert is way worse than Tebow...by miles.

I don't know how much evidence we need to see that Blaine can't play QB in the NFL. What kind of standard do we set when we continue to support and start a QB that sacks himself and throws the ball to the other team every other play? This stint can't last very long the team doesn't look like they're competing at all out there I see no enthusiastic play at least on offense. I would support Stanzi or even Tebow starting for this team. They can finish the game with a 2 quarterback rating I don't give a crud. Bradley's defense is getting injured and worn down and it's early in the season... if the season is a throw away then just get some playing time for someone else.

Quote:Thank god for the new cba that was in place when we drafted Gabby.

This is the best of all things said in this thread.  The new CBA mitigated what could have been a fatal move by this team in drafting Elaine
I'm not here to bury Gabbert.  What's done is done.  The painful thing is the thought of watching him "run" our offense for another 12 games...  3 more months seems unbearable to me.  And the alternative?  I'm not happy with Henne behind center either.

What if we switched to the wishbone offense?  Put D. Rob behind center, Toddman and MJD behind him, and let's just run the option over and over again... We could even drop Sanders and Blackmon into the wishbone.  Option right.  Option Left...   QB keep up the gaps...

It would be more interesting than the play calling and poor QB performance we've seen.

Maybe we just start punting on 1st down.  Our D is at least somewhat competitive.  It's a sad day of realizations.

I'm heading to my garage, turning on my car, and taking a nap now.
