And all those extra 3's can be the hope that the Jags can get him at 33 huh. I know it's not likely he's there not insinuating anything about his draft stock either way.
Quote:Wisconsin is Running Back U. No college in the nation has had running backs put up the numbers Wisconsin running backs have been putting up for the past 20 years. None. None of those running backs have gone one to be above average NFL backs, though.
Pitt is Running Back U and Paul Chryst left Wisconsin (as the OC) to take the job as the Pitt HC. Love it !!!!
Melvin Gordon 10 carries 110 yards in the 1st half. Wisconsin is well on their way to having at least one more 1,000 yard rusher. Insane.
That cat Gordon can play. Wouldn't mind us taking him in the 2nd.

You think Pitt has better college RBs than Wisconsin?
Quote:1. USC - This is an easy one.
OJ, Charles White, Marcus Allen, Reggie Bush
2. Texas
Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell, Cedric Benson, Jamaal Charles, Leaks
3. Georgia
Herschel Walker, Garrison Hearst, Knowshon Moreno, Terrell Davis, Lars Tate, Rodney Hampton, currently Gurley

I could even make a case for Florida at 10
Lol @ #10. After this year, Wisconsin will have had 21 1,000 yard rushers in 21 seasons. Nice list, bro.

When it comes to the top 5 backs from each school, Wisconson is at 10, maybe.
Quote:You think Pitt has better college RBs than Wisconsin?
Pitt's top guy definitely trumps Wisconson's best. The overall all time depth not there though.
Quote:When it comes to the top 5 backs from each school, Wisconson is at 10, maybe.
We are talking about the past 20 years and college stats (results), not talent. The top 5 Wisconsin backs trump every other school, statistically, over the last 20 years. I've shown that.
Quote:In the past 20 years, Wisconsin has had a 1,000 in 18 season. In the past 20 years, Georgia has had 4 seasons with a 1,000 yard rusher.
Let's compare the best single seasons:
Ron Dayne (1996) 2,109 yards rushing 21 TDs vs Knowshon Moreno (2008) 1,400 yards rushing 16 TDs
Montee Ball (2011) 1,923 yards rushing 33 TDs vs Todd Gurley (2012) 1,385 yards rushing 17 TDs
Ron Dayne (1999) 2,034 yards rushing 20 TDs vs Knowshon Moreno (2007) 1,334 yards rushing 13 TDs
Montee Ball (2012) 1,830 yards rushing 22 TDs vs Musa Smith (2002) 1,324 yards rushing 8 TDs
Since 1993, Georgia's highest single season rushing leader is Moreno (2008) with 1,400. Wisconsin has had 14 single season rushers over 1,400.
Montee Ball (2012) 1,830
Montee Ball (2011) 1,923
John Clay (2009) 1,517
P.J. Hill (2006) 1,569
Brian Calhoun (2005) 1,636
Anthony Davis (2002) 1,555
Anthony Davis (2001) 1,466
Michael Bennett (2000) 1,598
Ron Dayne (1999) 2,034
Ron Dayne (1998) 1,525
Ron Dayne (1997) 1,457
Ron Dayne (1996) 2,109
Terrell Fletcher (1994) 1,476
Brent Moss (1993) 1,637
Quote:When it comes to the top 5 backs from each school, Wisconson is at 10, maybe.
In the past 20 years, Wisconsins top 5 running backs ran for:
Ron Dayne 6,397 yards 63 TDs
Montee Ball 5,117 yards 77 TDs
Anthony Davis 4,676 yards 42 TDs
P.J. Hill 3,942 yards 42 TDs
John Clay 3,397 yards 41 TDs
Totaling 23,529 yards and 265 TDs.
You won't find 5 backs from a single school that come close to that production in the last 20 years. I'm starting to think I'm just being trolled, now, though. You can't really be this ignorant.
I'm not positive, but I'd think Texas would land at #2.
Ricky Williams 6,279 yards 72 TDs
Cedric Benson 5,540 yards 64 TDs
Jamaal Charles 3,328 yards 36 TDs
Hodges Mitchell 2,572 yards 19 TDs
Shon Mitchell 1,725 yards 14 TDs
Miami:
Edgerrin James 2,960 yards 32 TDs
James Jackson 2,950 yards 31 TDs
Clinton Portis 2,523 yards 20 TDs
Graig Cooper 2,374 yards 13 TDs
Willis McGahee 2,067 yards 31 TDs (over Javaris James because of the touchdown difference)
Total yards:
Texas: 19,444
Miami: 12,874
Wisconsin: 23,529
Total TDs:
Texas: 205
Miami: 127
Wisconsin: 265
So Texas is close, but Miami is not in the same ballpark. Again, we are discussing statistics in college. You are on record saying that your top 10 list was based on college stats. The funny thing is, even if you use All-Time running back stats, Wisconson's top 5 still >>> any other schools top 5 (once again, in terms of stats).
So Texas, Georgia, and Miami. Any other schools you think have had running backs put up better stats than Wisconsin's backs? Or will you finally admit you underestimated Wisconsin's running back history?

The site I use goes back to 1970. (Totalfootballstats.com). I will go back that far so I include
USC vs WISC
Charles White 6,245 yards 49 TDs vs Ron Dayne 6,397 yards 63 TDs
Marcus Allen 4,810 yards 45 TDs vs Montee Ball 5,117 yards 77 TDs
Anthony Davis 3,724 yards 44 TDs vs Anthony Davis 4,676 yards 42 TDs
Ricky Bell 3,689 yards 28 TDs vs P.J. Hill 3,942 yards 42 TDs
Reggie Bush 3,169 yards 25 TDs vs Billy Marek 3,703 yards 44 TDs
USC: 21,637 yards 191 TDs
Wisconsin: 23,835 yards 269 TDs
You sure that one is "easy"?
What about Ohio St. top 5? 4 Heisman's.
Not bad, but still Wisconsin is on another level.
Since 1970:
Ohio St.
Archie Griffin 5,589 yards 26 TDs
Eddie George 3,768 yards 44 TDs
Chris Wells 3,382 yards 30 TDs
Keith Byars 3,176 yards 46 TDs
Pepe Person 3,076 yards 32 TDs
Wisconsin
Ron Dayne 6,397 yards 63 TDs
Montee Ball 5,117 yards 77 TDs
Anthony Davis 4,676 yards 42 TDs
P.J. Hill 3,942 yards 42 TDs
Billy Marek 3,703 yards 44 TDs
Ohio St.: 18,991 yards 178 TDs
Wisconsin: 23,835 yards 269 TDs
Quote:Pitt's top guy definitely trumps Wisconson's best. The overall all time depth not there though.
Besides the fact that Ron Dayne is the NCAA career rushing leader and had more TDs than Dorsett. Was Dayne better than Dorsett? No, but once again this is about statistics. Pitt's top guy doesn't definitely trump Wisconsin's best. At best, it's a wash.
Ok. St.
1 Barry Sanders
2. Thurman Thomas
3 Terry Miller
4. ?
5. ?
What do they look like?
Since 1970, Wisconsin has had 8 RBs average over 100 yards per game. (Dayne, Ball, Davis, Hill, Marek, Calhoun, Bennett).
Since 1970, Texas, Auburn, Georgia, and Miami combined have had 6 RBs average over 100 yards per game. (Williams, Benson, Campbell, Walker, Moreno, James).
Oklahoma St. has the best case of all, so far, since 1970.
Thomas 4,487 and 43
Miller 4,754 and 49
Thompson 4,318 and 27
Hunter 4,135 and 37
Sanders 3,556 and 48 (over Earnest Anderson because of the TD difference)
Yards
Oklahoma St.: 21,250 yards and 204 TDs.
Wisconsin: 23,835 yards and 269 TDs
Still a pretty big advantage for Wisconsin. The original post was stats over the last 20 years, and Trav said his list (with Wisconsin ranked #10) was based on stats over the last 20 years. You'd have to cut Thomas, Miller, and Sanders.
Honestly, I never even realized Wisconsin was this dominant. These numbers are surprising me.
Just for fun, I did Michigan since 1970.
Mike Hart 5,040 and 41
Anthony Thomas 4,472 and 55
Jamie Morris 4,392 and 25
Tyrone Wheatley 4,178 and 47
Chris Perry 3,696 and 39 (over Denard Robinson because DR played QB, and over Butch Woolfork because of the TD difference)
Michigan: 21,778 yards and 207 TDs.
So far Michigan would be #2. Pretty cool. Still nowhere near Wisconsin, though.
