Melvin Gordon 10 carries 110 yards in the 1st half. Wisconsin is well on their way to having at least one more 1,000 yard rusher. Insane.

We are talking about the past 20 years and college stats (results), not talent. The top 5 Wisconsin backs trump every other school, statistically, over the last 20 years. I've shown that.

So Texas is close, but Miami is not in the same ballpark. Again, we are discussing statistics in college. You are on record saying that your top 10 list was based on college stats. The funny thing is, even if you use All-Time running back stats, Wisconson's top 5 still >>> any other schools top 5 (once again, in terms of stats).

 

So Texas, Georgia, and Miami. Any other schools you think have had running backs put up better stats than Wisconsin's backs? Or will you finally admit you underestimated Wisconsin's running back history?

Besides the fact that Ron Dayne is the NCAA career rushing leader and had more TDs than Dorsett. Was Dayne better than Dorsett? No, but once again this is about statistics. Pitt's top guy doesn't definitely trump Wisconsin's best. At best, it's a wash.

Since 1970, Wisconsin has had 8 RBs average over 100 yards per game. (Dayne, Ball, Davis, Hill, Marek, Calhoun, Bennett).

Since 1970, Texas, Auburn, Georgia, and Miami combined have had 6 RBs average over 100 yards per game. (Williams, Benson, Campbell, Walker, Moreno, James).

Oklahoma St. has the best case of all, so far, since 1970.

 

Thomas 4,487 and 43

Miller 4,754 and 49

Thompson 4,318 and 27

Hunter 4,135 and 37

Sanders 3,556 and 48 (over Earnest Anderson because of the TD difference)

 

Yards

Oklahoma St.: 21,250 yards and 204 TDs.

Wisconsin: 23,835 yards and 269 TDs

 

Still a pretty big advantage for Wisconsin. The original post was stats over the last 20 years, and Trav said his list (with Wisconsin ranked #10) was based on stats over the last 20 years. You'd have to cut Thomas, Miller, and Sanders.

 

Honestly, I never even realized Wisconsin was this dominant. These numbers are surprising me.

Just for fun, I did Michigan since 1970.

 

Mike Hart 5,040 and 41

Anthony Thomas 4,472 and 55

Jamie Morris 4,392 and 25

Tyrone Wheatley 4,178 and 47

Chris Perry 3,696 and 39 (over Denard Robinson because DR played QB, and over Butch Woolfork because of the TD difference)

 

 

Michigan: 21,778 yards and 207 TDs.

 

So far Michigan would be #2. Pretty cool. Still nowhere near Wisconsin, though.
