Ziggy was a popular player mocked to the Jags during the off season. Thru 3 weeks who has performed better and would you trade one for the other if you were Caldwell on draft day.
He's got 2.5 sacks which is a great start through 3 games. But he also has the advantage of playing alongside other good defensive linemen.
If we didnt draft Luke I wanted Star and he has played great.

This team has plenty of issues. Joeckel isn't one of them.

There would be a new QB signed every week to replace the last guy put on IR.
I can just imagine that gnashing of teeth from tebow fans as he's repeatedly passed up.

I'm talking currently. But I agree the value was not there.
I think Luke was the pick we had to make. We couldn't go into this year without protecting the QB from the outside. Unfortunately the interior line has been terrible and hasn't eased the pressure.
I'd still take Joeckel over Ansah at this point in time. Eventhough it's early, really, the only two first round picks that have stood out so far this year is EJ Manuel in BUF at QB and DeAndre Hopkins in HOU at WR. Defensively, out of the first round, I think Alec Ogletree has looked the best out of the 1st RD picks this year. And I am not just saying that because he's from UGA. The numbers are there. He's got nearly 30 tackles thru four games. He's been a bright spot as a rookie on a really bad football team. St. Louis can't do anything right this year.
I'd of been happy with Ansah or Jordan and both guys have shown promise. It's way too early for this though. Post this in a year or two.
I wanted Star bad and think he wouldve been big for the defensive running game, but if it meant keeping Whimper around, gotta go Joeckel.

Lets not act like Joeckel is not part of the problem. Roockie or not...but he was brutal in these past 3 games. Allowing multiple sacks and countless pressures. Monroe is the only decent lineman we've got on a team. Now imagine him missing.....

this is so far from the truth. Meester and Rackley have been horrible. Luke has not been bad.
