I have been a Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays fan since day one. Being of fan of them from 1998-2007 was worse than anything the Jaguars have been through. But from 2008 to this year, they've been one of only three MLB teams to have a winning record every year and are now on pace to make the playoffs for the fourth time.
This is no time to wallow in despair, for the first time in a long time we are truly rebuilding!
Your enthusiasm is noteworthy, but we went through a very similar situation when GS became GM. Remember the whole "In Gene we trust" crap? He obviously failed to build us up to greatness.
Quote:No more talk about we are a few players away from the playoffs. We were told it would take three years to rebuild and now everyone is crying because we are 0&3.
Most of us were under the assumption that Gene had 3-4 years to rebuild us as well. This will be our 2nd consecutive rebuild.
Quote:We gutted the rooster and started with a good draft. Next year we will get a quarterback, improve the offensive line and then we will begin to see the results of rebuilding the right way.
Deja Vu, anyone? GS was a strong supporter of building through the draft. Both Caldwell and GS drafted an offensive tackle with their 1st pick as GM. Back then, many believed that this team was on the rise. What makes you so sure that history won't repeat itself and 4 years down the road we won't be starting our 3rd consecutive rebuild?
Quote:No coaching staff can have success with an offensive line like ours!
No disagreement from me on this.
Quote:Khan has assembled a good front office and coaching staff and in a few years the media will be shouting his praises. This year I’ll get by watching the young players develop, and there will be improvement especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Khan is a novice owner, and IMHO knows very little about football. As much as I want him to succeed in making us great I can't guarantee that he ever will as our owner. I truly believe that he wants to, though.
Quote:Unreal expectations are the formula for disappointment.
Couldn't have said it better, myself.

That's why he hired two well respected guys in Caldwell and Lamping. Aside from signing checks, he's not as involved in the day to day operations of the team as some might assume.
Quote:Not yet......
Feel it..it is slow and hard to notice....we finally have speed on Offense..and a real GM!!

The difference is this is not Gene Smith so I expect different results.
I was a Tampa Bay Bucs fan in the 70's when they were setting records for consecutive losses. I remember their QB, Doug Williams.....had an arm like a cannon. Problem was, his accuracy was terrible. We used to say, "Send Williams over to Iran......If anybody can overthrow the Ayatollah, he can!"
No... this will never get better...we are stuck in this muck for ever...
Manziel would look pretty sweet in a two tone helmet and an all black uniform.
