I would take another QB. For a couple reasons. First, QB is all that really matters. Sure you need a line to block, sure you need WRs that can catch, sure you need a DE that can rush, but at the end of the day, its all about the QB. Second I think Teddy is the best of this bunch but I dont think Teddy is at them same level Luck or Griffin was. Im not sure he is a slam dunk lock to be a future upper echelon QB. If there is another good QB prospect that slips, I wouldnt hesitate in the slightest.
The Jaguars would be wise to shore up the interior of the offensive line in FA, I'd like to see us target TE Jace Amaro out of Texas Tech or Eric Ebron out of UNC in the 2nd round, we can really use a quick twitch athletic TE to go along with JB14 and CSIII84.
Quote:My mistake.
My pipe dream would be to have Austin Seferian-Jenkins fall into the second round, he's going to be a very good TE in this league.
I think Ebron has the potential to be just as good as ASJ, and he could be available in round two.
Quote:If we go QB in round 1 it has to be the best avaiable pass rusher unless we grab a guy like Hardy in FA.
I think the Analytics department would probably determine this isn't the best idea.
Interior OL or secondary, perhaps a LEO if a good one is available.
I'm still on the interior of the O-line in the second round. I was watching the Guard #61 Jackson, from MS State (vs Troy) last night on the replay of the game and that is a man amongst boys. He stood out the most of all the linemen driving his guy back into the secondary on running downs and in pass protection he stone walled whom ever he was going against. I know Troy isn't SEC caliber but the young man stood out. I would take him in the third maybe even second round if Stork isn't there.

Is Alex Mack a FA this offseason?...
Quote:I would like a stud Center/Guard. With the 33rd pick a C/Guard could be a waste, but the interior of the Jags O-line is BAD! I have watched Stork from FL State, he would be a plug in player. Stork can shift from Center all the way to Right Tackle if needed, has the size (6'4 - 300 lbs.) and he used to be a TE so the guy has athleticism.
Who would you want?
I'm a huge FSU fan, and I'd stay away from Stork. He got absolutely worked by Floyd and Easley against UF last year.

I think you've got em backwards there bud. I know it's early and all but as of right now Stork is the 3-4th rounder and Gabe Jackson is the fringe first rounder with room to rise. Wouldn't be surprised in the least if he's long gone by time the Jags pick in the 2nd.

Did you watch the game? You might want to, I just re-watched it just now and I have no idea where you see Stork getting dominated. If anything the game plan set Stork up in a lot of double teams vs Floyd and Bostwick. He held his own very well.
Really this draft should be all about interior linemen and a QB. Yes we could try to sign some linemen as Free Agents, but you generally end up overpaying to get them away from their original team. While this team has Cap space, would rather they be responsible and plan for cap flexibility long term.
Centers: Stork would be a great add, but he likely need to be draft at #33 as I doubt he drops into the 3rd round. He is highly versatile. Also think that Swanson (Arkansas) and Harrison (Florida) are ones that I be looking at later in the draft. I'm keying on these guys because they have all have some guard experience and bit more athleticism to play mix of man and zone blocking.
Guards: Cyril Richardson (Baylor) Guy is beast, and oddly enough I have seen some mocks still projecting him falling to the third. Definitely better run blocker than pass blocker right now, but he could easily help that interior run game that has been non-existent. Yankey (Stanford) is also a guy I would like.
Really I have to cheat with this. I really want them to trade that #33 pick back. Maybe get a later 2nd round pick and another 4th/5th/6th. Stork or Cyril would be great. Though I think some of the others can be good, it would just depend on how long it would take some luck with health.
I do think they should draft a LEO at some point in the draft, but I thought the point of having a LEO-like position is that you can fill spot with player that is often overlooked or misused from free agency or middle parts of the draft.
If the Jaguars have the first pick and are tied with another team, they get the #34 pick in Round 2. I certainly hope we will not be alone at the top. I also hope we will not be #1 by default, but instead would trade to get the pick.
As much as I'd like interior lineman... and I've joked we should take nothing but lineman.... but you can get quality interior olineman in the 3rd/4th rounds. We dont need one at basically the end of the first round.
I believe our 33 pick has three options (this is assuming we take Teddy):
1. We set our sights on a fantastic interior offensive lineman. I'm not really a fan of this plan because good interior linemen can be found later. However, if there's someone of immense quality, it'd be hard to pass him up, given our current situation.
2. Pass-catching TE. Possibly Colt Lyeria, if he falls this far. Would be a great way to give Teddy a security blanket for his first season.
3. Best Available Defensive Player. Whether it's a LEO, a DT, a corner, whatever. We are seeing this season just how good a 33 pick on defense can be. Imagine if we had two young, rising players of the quality of Cyp?
