Bingo!
Quote:I'm looking forward to the Rams game when we get Blackmon back and will have CS3, Lewis, Blackmon, and MJD out there at the same time.
I would be excited too because all those names are player makers for us. There's one thing tho that will hinder that...Gabbert is still throwing the passes -__-
In the early 80s the 49ers started 3 rookies and a second year player in the secondary...they spent many year as a unit and helped win lots of games. It would be great for our youngsters in the secondary develop like that!

Quote:Jonathan Cyprien has the making of a star. It's too bad this team is so bad that even if Cyprien made a strong case for DROTY, he wouldn't get it.
Yea, kinda like being the prettiest girl in Alabama.

This lol...
Quote:I hate to say I told you so.....about Josh Evans. Before the message board got switched I made a post that said he would be starting by mid season, and he is the most talented Defensive Player on our team. I also said he was very raw.

Ok, so I was wrong about Prosinski, but he has turned into a great gunner on special teams.

Josh Evans is a hard hitting safety.
No need to pat yourself on the back - he's only playing due to injury.

And really? Most talented player defensive player on the team? Are you nuts?
Quote:Evans may be starting due to Lowery being injured but that doesn't change my mind that he is the better player with triple the amount of playmaking ability than Lowery.  Just because a veteran is getting the nod over a rookie doesn't mean the veteran is the better player.  He is the safer player.  Adrian Peterson didn't start in his rookie year.  Chester Taylor did.

Not arguing, just saying I think Evans could be the best defensive player on this football team based on his raw ability and hard hitting style.  Its not like we have a bunch of studs.  Who is better based on talent alone?  Poz, Alualu, Mincey, ?????

Adrian Peterson was the seventh pick of the draft. Josh Evans was the first pick...of the sixth round. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. If athleticism alone (which seems to be the crux of your argument here) determined playing time, Alvis Whitted would have had a 10-year career as the Jags' top wideout. Lots of rookies are more gifted athletically than the veterans in front of them, but unless that rookie proves that they can master the mental aspects of the game and consistently outplay the veteran, well, they're Alvis Whitted.

I would have a very hard time believing that Evans is the best defensive player on the Jags in any capacity right now. That's not a knock on Evans, just a reality check that we're talking about a late-round pick who's got a chance to prove that he's capable of replacing Dwight Lowery someday. Comparing him to one of the greatest running backs to ever suit up, a player who was discussed as someone who could have gone from high school directly to the pros without missing a beat, and who finished second in the Heisman race as a freshman, seems kind of comical.
Whether it's this season or the next, Evans will be a viable part of an Young but very good secondary. It's bound to happen. Bradley hinted on this a few days ago...

NH3
Evans could be a steal in the long run. Right now, he's a developmental player, but a lot of analysts believed he could transition to a quality NFL safety. Whether or not he actually will is yet to be seen, but the potential is there. It's all you can ask for from a late-round pick.

Good opportunity this sunday against a balanced offensive attack from the Colts for our young safety duo.

Quote:Still have to add at least 2 pass rushers (LEO). Both Babin and Branch will be gone next year.
definitely branch, if babin gets double digit sacks he will be back because we don't have another good rusher

Evans SUCKED in his first real NFL game.   He may be talented, but he has a long way to go.
