Boldin is good but he is not a #1. He isn't fast. He doesn't separate from defenders. There is nobody on the outside for SF that can win one and one and stretch a defense.
His problem is the same problem Brady is having in New England. Wide Receiver play matters.

Place Alex Smith for 8 games and get everyone used to him and then switch to a completly different type of QB. Plus his face looks stupid, especially that one he made wearing the Miami Dolphins hat. As has been mentioned, he has no weapons at wideout, none.
