How about we show a little love to Mr. McCray for his game on Sunday. It obviously wasn't the prettiest because he go beat a few times, but overall the man had some pretty good coverage and a few nice tackles. Pretty good for a 7th round pick. I remember one play he was called for PI but I thought it was perfect coverage and a bad call.
Hope he continues to improve!
He did extremely well being a 7th round pick asked to cover the 'Hawks.
I agree.
Kid's got some potential.
The secondary is young and makes some mistakes.
But they have potential, including McCray.
I'd like to see this group with a pass rush and an offense that could keep them in games.

Agree with all of this.
Another crappy small-school Gene Smi----- err, wait a minute.
Appalachian State, Baby!!
I thought McCray getting reps was a real positive for his development. Also, it gave the Jags a chance to see how he performs when the bullets are real. Hopefully, he can build on the experience and take the next step.
He just needs to know when he's supposed to turn for the ball, got caught watching the receiver but not his eyes to see when he's to track the ball. Other than that, he was a sticky defender and will only grow with experience
i thought he struggled
he also seems a little thin. needs time to bulk up if he is going to play in the nfl
I thought he played well, all things considered. Never saw him with that patented Rashean Mathis beat by 15 yards look.

Why take a shot at Mathis? They guy is the best CB in team history
Mccray has a chance to be solid

I like Mathis. Wore his jersey to the Seattle game the other day. One of my favorite Jags ever.
Unfortunately I grew sick of watching him get absolutely burned the last few years without grabbing any INTs to help balance things out.

This. How many years has it been now without a real pass rush?

To be honest i got sick of the crappy scheme that had a 30 something year old CB being left to die against other teams #1 and #2 receivers in soft 5 yards off coverage. Remember the Bengals game and AJ Green? Shean was left on an island against one of the best WRs in the game who happens to be over a decade younger than him.
I blame the scheme just as much as sheans age/injuries on his decline.

Only difference is Gene probably would have traded up into the 3rd to draft him.
He improved as the game moved on..starting a NFL game is a big step for a guy from the 7th round. He looks like he has much potential!
