I didn't realize those QB have the problem between the ears that Freeman apparently does. 

 

Not sure why you'd choose Freeman, over a guy like Bridgewater who has a legit chance to be special in this league. Freeman's ceiling isn't close to that of Bridgewater's. Bridgewater also "gets it". He doesn't have a 10c head like Freeman.

That's a good point.  Look no farther than TB and what Steve Young "accomplished" there.

 

That being said, I've always been skeptical of Freeman.  He'll hurt you as much as help.  He may be able to salvage a career landing in the right situation, but with the current state of our franchise I believe we're more likely to end such careers.

LOL....your basising that off what they have accomplished recently instead of seeing what it took them TIME to accomplish.

 

Even Joe Flacco had a pretty slow start stat wise. He still has yet to pass for more than 4K yards or more than 25 TDs in a single season.

I'm not opposed to getting Freeman, but just not in favor of trading for him now.

 

I'd rather wait and see how the season shakes out, see what happens with the QB prospects and who declares, and go from there.

 

If somehow the Jaguars find themselves winning enough games to be out of the Bridgewater and Hundley sweepstakes without a substantial trade up, then open up the vault, acquire Freeman and maybe hedge your bets by taking a QB later.

 

Under normal circumstances, a 5th or 6th for Freeman is quite reasonable.

No....getting Freeman here will accomplish one thing....the Jags will get those extra few wins to price themselves right out of the Bridgewater sweepstakes. They'll go 5-11 (ish) this season and be stuck in the same 6 to 9 win slop that we've been stuck in for 5 years over the next 5.

This is what puts me somewhere in the middle between you and Greece.

 

I'm not has tough on Freeman as you are, but I agree he represents enough of an improvement at the position to possibly get us a few wins this year we might not otherwise get without him, and get us out of position to possibly draft a franchise QB.

If Josh Freeman got this team to 5-11 that would be a amazing accomplishment.

 

I doubt Bridgewater ATM could do that if placed on this team.

 

I hope you guys aren't expecting Bridgewater to come in and there be no growing pains. I might be 3-4 years before we see some significant growth with in our win/loss column. Not everyone is Matt Ryan or has a lucky season like Andrew Luck did with INDY (which I still beleive INDY had a 9-7 or 8-8 team without Peyton Manning....they tanked that season to get Luck). Our team is actually as bad as our record.

I feel you guys on your point. I just think Freeman has displayed enough with his stats and late game heroics to show he can be a franchise QB in this league. In TMDs scenario if he was able to get 5-6 wins this year (and put up a simlar stat line from his 2010 and 2012 seasons) with the roster we currently have. Then he is definitely a QB we can build around for the next 4-5 years and hopefully beyond.

 

If we can get him for a 5th and even better a 6th round pick, the value there outweighs the risk of missing out on a prospect with the #1 overall pick. We aren't even gauranteed to have the top pick with the team we have now.

I agree with you on Freeman's ability,

 

If Caldwell were somehow dissatisfied with the top QB prospects and still wound up with the top pick, a scenario where a trade down that netted a windfall of draft picks plus Freeman may be a viable improvement strategy.

pains me to say it but i agree with TMD on a few things. Glennon is poop...  he is an awful combination of jay cutler and blaine gabbert. 2. All Freeman will do is win an extra game or two because he isn't as horrible as gabbert or henne and that will ruin our shot at having Bridgewater. 

 

The Bucs players are done with Schiano, his time is coming to an end. 

 

I also think at this point it is Bridgewater or bust. Teddy in the 1st, OL after that or FA or both. 

 

If the Jags have a shot at Teddy and pass on him, I might honestly reconsider my loyalty to the Jaguars.

no shot that Indy team was a 9-7 or 8-8 team. Abysmal without Peyton. In Denver right now he is showing what he can actually do with a good team. He is the best QB of all time. I can only imagine his career if he always had that much talent around him.

I'm not expecting Bridgewater to come in and right away the Jags will be a playoff team. But I do expect that in little time, you will see that the Jaguars would indeed have "their" guy at QB for the first time in almost 20 years.
