Has anyone else noticed how ridiculously productive he's been for the Ravens? We could really use him. Don't get me wrong, i love Poz just as much as the next guy, but Letting D walk was a huge mistake.

You're assuming he wanted to stay with the Jaguars.

He's old, the Jaguars are going young. Why is that so hard to understand?
Watching the game , saw the  pick 6.

I see what you mean, but we probably could of offered less $ than we did to poz for his huge pay day and still kept Smith. I can understand why we really didn't try to resign him (age, injuries, uncertainty) But at least he offers some sort of depth To our line backing core.
 I hate Ravens fans.

Poz has nothing to do with the Smith situation.
Letting Daryl Smith walk is my solitary gripe with Caldwell thus far.   Although, I completely understand the thinking behind the move.

How do you figure? Salary cap effects the entire team
It was a good move for both.

There is absolutely no correlation between Poz's salary and Daryl Smith not playing here this year. None. No one said, "Gosh, if that darn Poz didn't make so much money we could afford to pay Daryl Smith. Too bad!" Daryl Smith isn't here because A. The team felt he wasn't worth what he was asking and B. Smith didn't want to make a deal for less than he thought he was worth.

 D. Smith makes close to veteran  league minimum .

So, A. then???

What I don't  get is why it worth resigning Meester and not Smith .

The only thing I can figure is they couldn't find someone to plug in at Center while LBs are relatively plentiful.

I think it had less to do about money, and more to do with a chance to play for a bona fide playoff contender.

When Greg Gumbel said that was the first pick six of only seven interceptions in his career, I thought maybe we overrated him when he was a Jaguar.

But what does that have to do with Daryl Smith?

I live in Baltimore . Most Ravens fans had  no idea who he was. Also , there is  no Texans @ Ravens game thread , so I was just venting in this one.
Caldwell screwed up with Smith and Greg Jones.

You should start a Caldwell complaint thread if you want to waste time talking about how bad he is in his first season as a general manager. Fact is he never had that job title before so we must accept a lot of growing pains this year. I think Caldwell can only get better as time goes on.
