Ohio State's first real test, and it's not much of one.

If Only To Me. How about yours?

I'm waiting till Taylor catches up. And starts playing.
Wish yesterday had been a better day of football.  was my first weekend where I hadnt traveled for a college town.  nashville week 1.  athens week 2.  columbia week 3.  back on the road again this week to....

UGA vs LSU - arguably the game of the week.  3rd time this year UGA can say that.  Dawgs kind of slept walk against North Texas...allowing two special teams TDs doesnt help either.  LSU blew away Auburn until they let up let the War Eagle make the score more respectable.  Interesting matchup between Murray and Mettenberger.  Ive said many times before on this board but Mettenberger had beat out Murray in their spring game 4 years ago.  Mettenberger probably has the best physical tools of any QB in this upcoming draft.  No one else has his size and arm.  So far he has played well this year but this will be his toughest test.  I doubt Im gonna actually go to this game but Ill definitely be in town.

Vandy vs UAB - Not a great game for Vandy yesterday against UMass(I had made plans to be up in Boston for this game but sadly it fell through).  Early in the season I was chalking this game up as an easy win but if they play like they did yesterday, the game will be tight into the 4th quarter.

other games....

VaTech at GaTech - only reason I really care is that Im probably going to attend this game.  Plus I like watching triple options team.  And VaTech's Dline did a number against Bama.  Will be interesting to see how they do against the option attack.

Ole Miss at Bama - Ole Miss has looked good this year(although they should have lost to Vandy).  If Bama isnt careful the Black Bears could sneak up on them.  But after their lackluster performance against CSU, I have to think Saban will have them ready to go.  Not to mention they were coming off a big win which was basically their game of the year.

Wisconsin at Ohio St - QB controversy in Columbus?  First test for Buckeyes who have so far looked pretty good but of course they havent played anyone good.  Wisconsin is always a tough out.  This should be a really good game.

Oklahoma at Notre Dame - Just like last year Notre Dame is winning a bunch of close games.  OU hasnt really played a big game yet.  Will be their first real test.

South Carolina at UCF - I think the Gamecocks will win although UCF has been sneaky good this year.  Im more interested in seeing how Bortles looks.  He has put up some pretty good numbers so far this year.  Only a junior but he could potentially leave early.  Ironically he is from Oviedo.  Who else is from Oviedo?  Jeff Driskel.  Played at different high schools.  Driskel was arguably the top dual threat QB prospect in the country.  Who would have guessed the Gators should have offered the kid across town at the rival high school.

Texas A&M at Arkansas - Is this game in Arkansas?  I know before A&M had agreed to join SEC, these two schools were going to play in Jerry's World.  And I thought they were going to continue that but maybe not?  Anyways Hogs lost a tough game yesterday to Rutgers.  They had a big lead but blew it.  Besides that Ive been impressed with Bielema.  You knew he'd make them relevant again.  And I think he is making that happen quickly.  A big strong running game is a perfect fit for the kind of recruiting you do in Arkansas... similar to Wisconsin.  Anyways I have to think Manziel and company will beat them convincingly.

USC at Arizona St - Anyone else watch USC almost lose to Utah St?  Arizona St may blow them out.

Iowa at Minnesota. Iowa has steadily improved overall and he offense is gaining steam with a young QB in Jake Rudock. I've been very impressed with what Jake Rudock has done in his first action as QB. He's shown a lot of poise and awareness in pressure situations. He's the best QB Iowa has had in a few years. His back up CJ Beathard played well in garbage time too. The defense is playing closer to what it did in Iowa's better years and special teams is better than I can remember. They're still a long ways away from a serious B1G contender but I feel better about this team than I have any of he last three years. The pieces are there.

Wisconsin and OSU is another one I'm interested in. I think that one ends up closer than people think.

Our offense is terrible. We just blew out an awful team.

We agree to disagree on this one. Yes they played inferior competition and I still say Greg Davis isn't the answer. However, I think the offensive talent is higher than it's been in recent years overall and the pieces are in place, with a few additions, for a decent team to present itself. Whether it does or not we will see. I'm not saying this is an Oregon or Baylor offense but it's leagues better than last years nonexistent passing offense.
Looks like a better week than the last two. I wish I could be at UCF for that game. Should be a great atmosphere.

Maybe I am crazy here but I think Ole Miss gives Bama everything they can handle.

Virginia @ PITT - 12:35pm Saturday

These games are dum.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way; really excited about watching UGA and LSU. There's going to be a lot of talent on the field in that one.

I echo RFC's thoughts about watching a triple option team. When they get clicking, they are a lot of fun to see. Of course, it's also kind of cool to see a quality Nose Tackle completely negate the entire attack.

Regarding the USC - Utah State game, Chuckie Keeton has intrigued me ever since he started at Utah State. Remember, this is a program that put Bobby Wagner and Robert Turbin into the NFL. Keeton isn't ready yet, but when all is said and done he'll have four full seasons of play under his belt, and that's something that's really difficult to come by.

I'd say LSU looks like the best team in the country so far this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they laid a number on UGa this Saturday in Athens.

Got to love option football and the chess match between the def/off. I would much rather watch a good triple option offense play then a spread offense!
Florida and Ohio State play at the same time? Crap.  The Gators always play better in the second half. I definitely will watch the Buckeyes, who get Braxton Miller back this week.

GatorEyes strike again.

Yup! The cool part about those games is that you know the Offense is rather limited since they really don't have as many plays to fall back on as some other Offenses. You know that they are working with a limited inventory so when they make it work, it's because of the play-caller being on point against the Defense.

i know that oregon is really good but theyre 38 points favorite againts cal. thats a little bit much or maybe i'm butthurt because im a huge cal fan lol

No way, not true. There are a plethora of plays. Today's spread offense concepts come from triple option offenses and the single wing. The number of plays that can be run out of it is limitless.

I thought I read somewhere that Paul Johnson's playbook has around 20 plays. Mea culpa if I misunderstood that.

I have no idea how many plays Johnson has, or how many formations he has in it. But in option football, triple, flexbone, wishbone, etc. the number of plays is innumerable. If I had to guess, Johnson's playbook is loaded up with many different options (no pun intended).
The Yellow Jackets move to #20 after Thurs nights game and new rankings.

I think they handle VT and jump up some. I like GT and Paul Johnson. I played against his offense for four years in college. Same stuff for 16/17 years.
