I hope all Gators fans liked watching Tyler Murphy play three and a half quarters because they will see more of him every week. After only hearing "right ankle" all game as Tracy Wolfson was not told his x-ray results, I read this diagnosis: broken fibula. So he actually has a lower right leg injury.

For anyone who did not watch that horrible play or see game highlights, it went like this: A Volunteer blindsided Driskel as he threw a pass, forcing an interception. The way that player hit Driskel's right ankle made his foot turn inside like feet do when ankles are sprained and he was able to walk to the sideline, but that was the last time his right foot touched the ground. From AOL Sports:

Quote:Even if I was not a Gators fan, I would feel bad for Driskel. Nothing can be worse for a quarterback than breaking a bone and throwing a pick six on the same play.

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel is out for the season, Gators coach Will Muschamp said on CBS after Saturday's 31-17 win against Tennessee.

The junior quarterback was injured in the first half and left the stadium on crutches for X-rays. It was later confirmed that Driskel broke his fibula.

"Jeff Driskel is as tough a kid as I've been around so when he looked at the sideline and waved, I knew it was bad," Muschamp said after the game.

Sorry for Driskel. What a miserable way to end his career.

Murphy looks to be the better QB, so it may end up a blessing for the Gators. Admittedly we've only seen Murphy for 3 quarters, but I was never impressed with Driskel, even last year when the Gators were #2 and undefeated.

Free at last, free at last...

His carrer is not over. He has another year left. But it was certainly a miserable way to end the season for him.

Also, the Gators did lose a game last year and were not #2 overall. You must be thinking of somebody else.

Driskel showed flashes of being very, very good, but showed more signs of play of not having it, or putting it all together all of the time.

I think politics played into Driskel starting, and continuing to get the time. Murphy came in and played very well, and I do think he is the better QB right now.
It doesn't matter who is at quarterback. They aren't going to beat many teams with the run run throw offense they are using. Tennessee is a bottom of the SEC team at this point. Florida is in trouble Driskel or Murphy. I wish Driskel the best. He can play better then what had been showing before his injury. He needs help from his receivers and his offensive coordinator. They can't call a run run throw every time.

How can politics have anything to do with who Florida's starting quarterback is? It is all about performance and last year Driskel was the best quarterback on the tream.

It is possible Murphy seemed to play better because of the opponent. We have to watch him against teams like Georgia and South Carolina to determine how good he is as the starting quarterback.
Praise the Lord !!!   I'm not certain how Driskel became so bad but he was pathetic this year.  Tyler Murphy looked very prepared, had great instincts, and provided a much needed spark to that offense.

Driskel is the Blaine Gabbert of UF.

I hope you are not saying a broken leg is good for the Gators. The quarterback switch should have been based on performance, not a pair of crutches.

A broken leg is good for the Gators.  There, I said it.

OK, I believe you - if the player who broke his leg does not have the word Gators on his helmet.
I don't wish injuries on any players except for Tom Brady but I have to say the Gators are better with Tyler at QB.  Not only in stats but the energy he pumped into the offense.

Obviously a severe injury should never be the cause of a quarterback switch. It should have been a case of Driskel getting benched.
Coach is too stubborn to change game plan so this worked out perfect.  Sometimes it takes an injury to fix the problem.  See Tom Brady for example.

I doubt he will win back the starting job, so his football career is essentially over at this point.

Weren't the Gators #2 at one point last season?

Poor guy, but It's Murphy's job to lose now.

His career is not over until he graduates. You should know that.

Before they lost to Georgia.
Honestly, Murphy is the better option at this point and in regards to an above post, yes that style of playcalling can be effective, when you are hamstrug by a mediocre QB, but blessed with an elite defense. How do you think they got to a BCS bowl last year? The Miami game was lost because Driskel couldn't hold onto the damn football. I wish Murphy all the best.
