Granted, when I said months ago that the upcoming QB class was so strong that I wouldn't be surprised if QB went 1-2-3 I was thinking Teddy, Boyd, and Fales. I love how bold the call is. QB in today's day and age is sooooooooo much more important than any other position in all of sports and Mariota and Hundley look like damn good prospects too.
Remember when you wanted Geno? And you called anyone who thought we would draft a Tackle at #2 stupid?

I do.

Yup, the main person I wanted at draft time was Mingo (Dion Jordan second) and I think he is proving already that he would have been a better pick than Joeckel. Like I always said Joeckel would be boring and fine, sure, but Mingo is a rare pass rusher and he is already proving that. Also, pretty silly to close the book on Geno two games into his career.

My point was that you called people stupid for thining Caldwell would take a tackle at #2. Do you remember being an arrogant prick about that?

I do.

I do too. To specify, I did quantify that by saying RT every time, but I admit I did make a conclusion without knowing how the new analytics would drive their selection process. I also think I'm going to be proven right that many of the people I would've rather had over Joeckel (notably Mingo, Jordan, and Star) would've indeed been better selections, but I'm sure Joeckel is going to be fine too.

Can we stay on topic now please?

Have you watched Fales? I am not that impressed with him.

I hopped on the Mariotta train, officially, a few weeks ago. I have really liked his athleticism since last season. He consistently gets better in the passing game. Kid is a freak athlete.

I made a thread about this yesterday, but sucker is gone now!

I really like Fales.  It's hard to look all-world when you lose a bunch of your offensive weapons on a team that already lacked firepower and then play a team like Stanford.
LOL... he's injured.  That can change everything.

See: Jones, Jarvis

I just don't know if I see an first round NFL arm on Fales. I think he could be a solid backup/occasional starter in the NFL but I don't see him as a franchise QB.
Clowney will not reach 4th.

I don't see a top 10 pick elite NFL arm either, but his arm is good enough to be a late first round pick or second rounder.  He is a QB that I think the Jaguars have their eyes on.  I mean, we brought in his TE and RB last year in Eskridge and Otten.  We may have even had an eye on Quessenberry if we didn't draft Joeckel #2.  He reminds me a little of Kirk Cousins.
If the first round goes like this, we should take Cyril Richardson from Baylor at 33.

Man, you're really hitching your wagon to Geno not panning out two games into his career.

Sure, the GMs didn't value him until the second round, but would you still call out the hypothetical fan who wanted to draft Aaron Rodgers in the top five that year?

And, no. This is not me saying I expect Geno to have an Aaron Rodgers-esque career. But it's certainly within the realm of possibility that him falling in the draft will turn out to look like a mistake for several teams that passed on him.

I hate needing a new prescription just to read message board posts!!! :teehee:
I really wish there was an Andrew Luck level QB prospect in this draft.

There's one that won't be far off when it's all said and done. I sure hope we have a chance to grab him.

Lets see how his surgery goes first, its possible he could wind up like that DE from Clemson (or maybe he was from NC) a few years back.  I forgot his name, but he was going to go #1 overall, but an injury caused him to drop to the 4th round.  I think Tampa Bay picked him.  It mighta been Robert Quinn...forgot his name

Haha, a bit off here. You're talking about Da'quan Bowers, who wound up going 51st overall so comfortably in the second round.

But no, the injury doesn't have anything to do with why Clowney could drop out of the top 3. It's purely because QB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DE and there being a lot of very promising QB prospects right now should they all declare.
