I think too many people here are blaming Bortles while we are getting beat consistently by teams that have washed up retreads behind center.  Why?  Because better coaching staffs are "coaching up" their team/players they way they're supposed to.  They are capitalizing their teams' strengths and minimizing their weaknesses.  They are putting their players in a position to win.  They are doing the right things in the off-season to get the best out of each player.

 

Have you ever watched "A Football Life" on Tom Coughlin?  The dude was mega critical on every fine detail, especially with QBs.  He'd coach the QBs for perfect foot position, mechanics, etc.  This staff does nothing of that sort.  Bortles may not be a franchise QB but he would definitely be better under a better coaching staff.

 

Stop passing the buck, Gus sucks.  You'll see a lot of our players flourish if we get a real coach and staff in here.

The first quarter is all you need to see from this team.

 

We can never get out to an early lead because this coaching staff doesn't prepare the team to win. Their gameplans are trash and the only reason we stay in games is due to the talent on the field.

Nothing surprising about this most every coach says similar things about every opponent, the Browns opposing coach has probably said similar words the past 15 years.


He isn't going to come out and say "lol gags are trash, ez game, ez life" but you can bet he's licking his lips at the easy win.

Then the 2-14 Jaguars will blow his mind!

Rex would have this team at 10-6. Heck Rob Ryan probably would...

He's essentially saying Gus Bradley is awful.

TBH, the script against the Jaguars is pretty simple.

 

Get to the QB, or at bare minimum don't let him out of the pocket since he's more dangerous on the run.

 

That negates about all we offer offensively when you force turnovers from Blake.  That doesn't even consider the fumbles you'll get from others, too.

Nice theory. Too bad you have no idea if any of it is true. Are you in the locker room at halftime? You are there during practice? Probably not.

 

It's so easy and simplistic to say Gus Bradley, Gus Bradley, Gus Bradley.

 

Also easy to say Coughlin, Coughlin, Coughlin.

 

Have you not watched the games? Have you not watched Bortles? Did you not watch the Giants the last three years under Coughlin?

 

I think you might be passing the buck. Bradley is obviously gone. But 1999 Tom Coughlin won't win six games unless he gets better QB play.

Rex Ryan's comments aren't that much different than what Jim Caldwell said last week,  with a major exception of no mention of Blake Bortles.  

 

Though some of the praise from opposing HCs is coach speak,  plus stressing the importance to the players to take the Jaguars very seriously,    there's no question on this end that the Jaguars have noticeably better talent than a typical 2-8 team.   It's likely that Shad Khan is going to agree with this and at the very least a new HC should be in place in Jacksonville for the 2017 season,

The Lions open the week as 6.5-point favorites, the biggest margin they’ve seen this season, but coach Jim Caldwell is doing his best to prop up Sunday’s opponent.

“I mean you look at it, they have some very, very high draft picks on that team that are very capable players and doing some very, very good things,” Caldwell said. “I think they’ve done a tremendous job.

I seriously just wrote a piece about that. (approximately the same time-ish you were posting)

 

We are (hopefully) the 2012 Chiefs. 2-14, loaded with talent on the D (we actually have a better situation than their offense at the time) 

QB has run his course and is not the answer, much like Cassell.

Coach's message and coaching is tired and fans have been ready to move on (Haley/Crennel)

The GM is even in some hot water (Pioli)

 

During the 2013 offseason they brought in a new GM, HC, and QB, essentially leaving the rest of the team the same...

and went 11-5, second in the AFCW

 

 

 

11-5 would blow the doors off the AFCS.

The thing is though, Coughlin likely would get better QB play by virtue of being a vastly superior coach.
