There have been a few reports coming out of OTAs talking about the difference in tempo, and how it's not nearly the glorified walk through it was previously.  This all bodes well for the new era, IMO.
This is all well and good... provided it translates onto the field when it counts. I don't care how hard he (Bortles) tries; I care about results when they count, and that means producing positive results in the regular season and coming away with W's! Anything less is just more of what we've seen and heard for ten years now.

... Bortles must 'prove it' or sit down.
Watching his press conference, he had a different tone in his voice answering questions and was straight to the point. Maybe the lightbulb up there finally clicked on and he's figured out that if he can't get this team to winning ways again, that his days are numbered.

i agree. One thing i tell alot of people is that a person in his unique position(one that is naturally left handed but learned to throw right) cannot afford to take a year off of working on his mechanics. If the the rumors were true of last off season about him constantly being out at the beach bars, even if his coaches told him not to go to cali to work on mechanics, he did alot of damage to himself. hopefully with this staff, he will be pushed to elevate himself to be a professional in this game.
I think a lot of Bortles struggles last year stem from a combination of factors.

First, he was coming off a solid 2nd year, and they thought his mechanics were going to be fine. He didn't think he would need to go back to California to continue refining his mechanics. That was a mistake.

Second, as the season progressed, it became clear that he was being asked to do a lot more than he should have been, and as a result, things got sloppy.

I think that what we are hearing from him now shows that he's got his head in the right place, and from all indications, that's showing on the field. The fact that he has decided to go back to California to continue working on even more specific areas where he feels he still needs to focus shows he's maturing as a player, and understands that he will need to keep working on things in order to assure he has a successful career. I see that as a good thing, and I'm hoping that it translates into a more productive, successful future for Bortles. The team is certainly gambling on that, and they have done everything possible to build the roster around him to help him reach his potential.

I think we're going to see a much improved Bortles both mentally and physically when the games matter.

It's either put in the work now and prove himself this year or be relegated to backup status until he fades from the league.

Personally, I'd be afraid to look Marrone or Coughlin in the eye knowing I did anything less than what he's doing now. The boy has no laurels to rest on.

Why are people still buying into this? It's already been explained why he didn't go back to California last off-season: Greg Olsen didn't want him to and told him to stay in Jax.

The fact that no media outlet has even said a word about his so-called "bar-hopping" tells you that someone likely made this up and spread it around.

Say what you will, but the guys is absolutely working hard to be better. I have high hopes for him this year.

I don't think he did THIS much work the first time he utilized their services.

I like it.

With the current CBA, the coaches have very limited interaction with the players to hone their craft the way they once had. Kudos to Bortles for bridging that gap and putting in the sweat equity. Kudos to the Jaguars brass for encouraging Blake to take advantage of those services.

Kudos indeed. I'm glad the team is humble enough to let someone else attempt to fix him.
