Hey now, Lake City is growing up. They're getting a lot of new businesses coming in, which I'm keeping an eye out on.
I got another interview tomorrow morning with a title processing place. We'll see how that goes!
My son was talking with someone who was at one of the Amazon hiring events. When it was announced that drug testing was part of the process, he was told that so many people left en mass it looked like the end of a Jags game. The guy estimated two thirds of the applicants walked away.

Warehouse jobs I can understand, because people can get pretty effed up by warehouse injuries.

Seriously, there are tons of restaurants popping up in the Jacksonville and surrounding areas. If that's where you want to go with your career path, there is opportunity to be had.
Also, regarding retail, if you're the management type, look at Ikea. It's a hike from Lake City, but they're hiring their staff now, and that will include managers and supervisors.
If you're licensed to sell insurance in Florida, there are a lot of independent agencies, or even national companies like State Farm that are always looking to build up their staff You should be able to find something.
As far as the herbal use is concerned, find a medical need to use it, get a prescription from a doctor, and you're golden. Or, just abstain for long enough to pass the test, then smog it like you're a mosquito sprayer.

The problem with their mass hiring is that it's completely temporary. They're ramping up for open enrollment period, which means that once that ends, so do the jobs. Florida Blue is notorious for their rolling hiring/layoffs.
Now, for call center management, Convergys is a place that's worth looking into. Some of their contracts are cyclical, but most are not. The same is true for Citigroup and Deutsch Bank. They both have large call center operations here.
