Think he visited them in May there.

I like it

Perfect timing too. He can just stay in town and hop right into camp next week!
31, but still may have some left.. Would be a decent "flyer" signing on a pro bowl level player at a position of need/concern.
The team had an open roster spot after recently releasing a depth rookie DB on an injury settlement.
Adding some vet competition at TE is a good way to utilize that spot.
Local guy, productive, fills a position of need. I like it.
Can he rush the passer? If so then give him 56.

Naturally, I would have preferred the team to have drafted a TE in this past draft class, but under the circumstances, the interest from my perspective seems worthwhile.

Pro Bowl caliber year 2 years ago. A consistent player last year during a terrible year. 31 years old.
Tbh I'm not against this, BB despite being bad would be the best QB he's had in his career

Fumagalli!
If Barnidge stilll has in him some of what he had a couple years ago, this could get interesting. I doubt he'd have too much of an issue beating out Neal Sterling for his roster spot. I imagine we'll keep four TEs, so Rivera, Marcedes, Barnidge and Koyack should work out great. I see Barnidge backing up Rivera as the move TE with Koyack backing up Marcedes as the primary blocking TE.

Sterling has too much talent. i think he makes this team. Rivera to me is not a lock. And I still dont know what Mercedes is doing on this team. smh.
I feel like we should grab him now. Let training camp weed out the weakest link. It's not like we can't afford to take a risk on him. And the TE position for the Jaguars appears to be somewhat lackluster. Bortles could use the best TE available that we can put out on the field.
Considering we have an open roster spot, I really don't see the harm

12 catches for 110 yards.... so much talent. C'mon man.... Rivera is more of a lock than Sterling.

Lewis gets so much hate from fan base (mostly on this board) but I can't seem to figure out why.
Dude is a great blocker with some pass catching ability and his contract isn't too high...

But ya know... keep shaking your head... maybe you'll shake something back into place lol

I've always thought the same thing.  He's a workhorse and has done a pretty good job on the team... nothing that leads him to pro bowls or the HOF, just good work.

I think I know why he gets so much hate from some though...  his Madden rating isn't as good as Rob Gronkowski.
31 isn't that old for a TE, he still has a good 3 years left. No way I'd cut sterling, he's a great jar on the shelf player who could break out this year or next.

Next Tuesday
Neal flashes, but he's just a guy... before the Barnidge option I was considering keeping Caleb Bluiett over Neal Sterling.

As for Rivera, I suspect he's going to be a breath of fresh air at TE. ...a true safety outlet than Blake can always rely on.
