He's being utilized in a horrific way and is probably frustrated.

Talk about a waste of money. I liked the pick at the time, but this has turned out to be his worst free agent selection. How much cap space would they save next season if they cut him?

The offense really does nothing creative or finds ways to exploit mismatches.

Quote:I think he mailed this season in. He doesn't care, obviously. No he does not care. It is the Jacksonville Elephant graveyard. Free agents come here to get one last big check and then retire. Once they hit the duval county line, they have at most 2 good years left. They tell their friends they are in Jacksonville, and started getting ragged upon, their mind believes it, the losses follow, and their career is done. We are the Free agent elephant graveyard where all Free agents go to die. Poz and a few others are rare exceptions.

Nope. I'm sure he's tired of running 5 yard out routes and catching nerf balls from a sorry QB while other TE's around the league are burning up the seams and actually getting real opportunities to make game changing plays.

He's not being utilized properly in this offense. As it's been said more than once in this thread. They called the same exact passing play with the same exact route twice yesterday and the defense sniffed it out. Bortles has over thrown him or under thrown him in the redzone two or three times this year. He missed him in the Green Bay opener here at home and he missed him yesterday in the corner of the end zone too when they actually ran a proper play where he's able to use his size and speed to get down the field. Just a few weeks ago he bailed Bortles out in the end zone when he threw an ugly pass behind him and he had to wrench it away from the defender on what could have been and should have been an interception for a touch back. Has he put up the ridiculous numbers like he did in Denver with Manning? No, of course not. And I don't think anybody expected that. But he missed some time his first year here and he's now dealing with another OC and a struggling QB in Bortles whose made the entire offense look inept this season.

Show me another guy his size who gets pushed around by cornerbacks.

I can't imagine a scenario where he is retained. He simply has not and does not appear to be able to perform anywhere near worth the contract he received IMO.

Anybody listen to 1010xl today. Ballou called out one player on the active roster he thinks is going through the motions and isn't playing hard. He didn't give a name. But I can't even think of who it could possibly be other than Thomas.

I just want to see this team one more year under a real NFL coaching staff.
Right now, our "coaching staff" is clueless about how to use the strengths of every players.

I don't feel strongly either way. Keep him, can him. This team has much bigger fish to fry. I'm not sure I'll lose sleep either way.

I'm pretty disappointed I decided to get a Julius Thomas jersey. I was stoked to get him in the Free Agency, but he's not being used right. On top of that, he's looked out of shape since after coming back from that injury last year. Maybe he's been putting on weight to try and block better? I dunno, but he runs his routes lazy and doesn't seem to try and make a play at the ball. I still think he's a major centerpiece if utilized correctly but I think the Jags want him more as an extra blocker and a check down option. Doesn't seem to make any sense considering the skill set that got him his big contract.

I think Ivory is worse than Thomas.

Ivory spends too much time looking for a hole. He's big and quick enough to make one. If he'd commit to it, then he'd average 4.4+
