Barry Church: Jags 'have a lot more talent' than 'Boys

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...-than-boys

On the heels of Malik Jackson and Calais Campbell calling the Jaguars a Super Bowl contender, a third member of the team's defense grabbed the mic on Friday to brag about this year's roster.
I love it! Good to see the confidence.
It's coming from players who have been on successful teams. Whether it's true or not remains to be seen. But this is the kind of confidence and attitude you want to see. I don't care if you're the band playing on the Titantic as she sinks. Or if you know you're indeed David up against Goliath and have something up your sleeve. The whole point of competitive sports is to be the best of the best and to win it all. If that's not your goal you shouldn't be involved at all.
Honestly no bias here either but he's right. Only position group you can outright say is better then ours is there Oline.
I have thought for the past couple years that we've terrible underachieved given the talent on the field. Yeah Bortles deserves some blame for that but a lot of it has also been the environment. I don't want to lay it all on the coaching but I think with time comes a maturity on the player's part as well. We've got better talent than probably half the teams in the league, maybe more so it's time to start showing it.
The team was lost. They were undisciplined, out of position and not coached properly. That's ultimately what it boiled down to. I know a lot of people like to argue with the "It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmy's and Joe's".

I agree with that statement... to an extent. I still believe a great coaching staff can mask a team's weaknesses and figure out it's strengths. Period. Bill Belichick has always been a good football coach. He had the Cleveland Browns well on their way to something great or good prior to that move to Baltimore.

Andy Reid is another coach I like. He's not the greatest. But he knows football. And he seems to get it done enough to be in contention or on the cusp year in and year out. That's why you don't sleep on good coaches like that. A lot of those guys can make magic out of lunch meat. They can inspire a team. They can put their players in the right places at the right time.

Bradley was a major turd.

The part in bold I think is a huge part of all of this.  2 seasons ago the Jaguars were the youngest team in the NFL.  After a couple of seasons players are either going to be better or be busts.

I also believe that the coaching change will make a difference.

I'm not going to say "division champs potential" just yet since we haven't seen them on the field, but I do expect a much better record this coming season.  I think the team will surprise a lot of people.  I still think .500 or better will be the end result.

Unfortunately, that's the most important position group on the team besides QB.

I think the Cowboys have a better TE, too.
I love his confidence.
Well, I don't recall players saying things like what Church and Jackson have said the last few years. Love the attitude. Time to back it up on Sundays.
When you have young players on a team with real potential, you get this.  The question is, can the "potential" turn into a winning team?
I love it!! I know this will trickle down to the rest of the team! We need this swag and if everyone get on board that attitude alone can change the direction of some games!
Seems like an arrogant thing to say on a 4-12 team that has barely practiced in pads. Should have confidence in what we have but they haven't earned anything.
Means nothing until we start winning. If it was 2007, I'd be more optimistic lol.....
E'hem...
