Rivals tend to have close games with both sides winning some, and we have that with both the Titans and Colts. We should have that with the Texans, so hopefully we start winning some this year. We also have that with the Steelers, although the Jaguars a long ways down on the Steelers list of rivals. The Patriots are not a rival in the least. They're a team who simply always has the Jaguars number and routinely whoops us when we do face them.

Can someone explain this reasoning to me?  I honestly don't see what's special about the tacks, at all.  Mariota isn't great and is injury prone, and their defense is pretty average.  They can run the ball, but that's pretty much the only area of their team that is even above average.  If the Jags gel, I feel like they're a lot better than the tacks and every other team in the division.  Am I off base here?

It all depends on which side of the fence you land on regarding confidence in Mariota and to what degree their run game will help him.

I'm straddling that fence but leaning towards thinking Mariota doesn't quite get it done for them or doesn't stay healthy.

I think Jackson is proving to be a model free agent signing. Despite the exorbitant contract, he's busting his butt to earn every penny and making an effort to be a positive force among his teammates.
Excited to see him disrupt the middle in the coming months.

I can't speak for anyone else, but to me the strongest thing about the titans is their offensive line. Mariota is, I believe, a decent game managing QB, so combined with a good offensive line, a big improvement in record last season, and against a generally poor division, it's easy to see why they'd be a chic pick to win. Personally I think they got their big improvement last year and Mariota isn't an elite QB that will push them to the next level, plus they'll face a harder schedule overall. I see 8-8 as a good estimate for where they can get if the have another season of good breaks, but I think the Jaguars should be able to have a winning record if Bortles can reduce his mistakes.

Totally agree. For me, I happen to think Mariota is ahead of the curve at this point in his career and will only get better. They have by far, the best O-Line in the division and a very dangerous running game. I also really like the receivers they brought in. Yes, their defense isn't the best, but considering the instability at QB on our team and the Texans as well as the poor O-Line play on all teams in the rest of the division, not to mention the questions surrounding Andrew Luck's health. I have to believe the Titans are favorites to win the division, especially with the upgraded receiving unit. I don't like it, but i don't see it any other way.

The Titans may have the best OL in the league... perhaps the best RB in the division aside from Fournette possibly taking over the title... easily the best TE in the division with Delanie Walker... and Mariota was playing just as good as Luck last year when he went down. I do see the Titans falling off big time if Mariota goes down, but Mariota was playing at an extremely high level over the last several weeks he was active. Now their WRs weren't all that last year, but the guys they've added are huge talents... in particlar Corey Davis and Decker.

Defensively they're not too bad... their secondary needs work, but up front their front seven is formidable. They just re-signed Jurrell Casey, that guy always gives us problems up front.
