As a vet, I would...but more because he sucks at football...not as much because he doesn't respect our country.

So you wouldn't give him a chance to show you with his actions?

Yes I would for his actions, but not simply by him coming out and saying "Sorry".  If he were to meet with local law enforcement, get involved in a joint venture, do something for disabled vets, denounce the Castro shirt fiasco ad the socks 100%.

For the record, I had no issue with him kneeling.  Seeing him sitting on his rear-end staring at his feet pushed every button I have.
Just a simple reminder, let's keep this to football related stuff only.  I don't care if you are a Veteran or not.  I happen to be one myself.  We have rules on this board and a proper place to voice your political opinion(s).

Thank you.
I have any idea why Brandon Allen isn't the starter. He got everything except size. His arm isn't as strong but he's way more accurate.

He's a changed man but he's also a coaching intern with the chiefs atm and I think he knows his playing days are behind him
My problem with Kaepernick is he's not very good, certainly not good enough to warrant even moderate backlash.

I agree however sometimes topics overlap.  This topic and this football player in particular are one of those times.

To this point in my personal opinion, no one has crossed the line.  Some latitude for this discussion should be granted, and if things do get out of hand I will be the first to cease and desist.
I'm neither pessimistic nor optimistic about our team this year. I'm numb.

Such is the life of a jags fan......

Here is the rub.  Political points of view set aside, with this offensive line and his skill set you have to ask yourself is he better than what we have?

From a purely football perspective "IF" football is still a priority for him he just might be the best option for winning now.

The personal conflict I have with potentially signing him is immense.  There truly is no easy answer, especially in a military, football loving town like ours.

Why? Aren't you fighting or were fighting to preserve his freedom to choose sit or stand? I don't want Kap here either, but its not for kneeling. He sucks at football. Next.

Exactly. Kaep is an inexpensive option who could be brought in on a limited deal. This would be a costless deal for you penny pincher salary cap managers out there. You would not be asking him to do very much just like you are not asking Bortles to do much. You could have designed runs, options and play small ball, clock control offense. I think most QB's would kill to have the offensive talent this offense has.
The Yankees and their anthem. Yawn. I wish the 'ones' who REALLY know will just sit, then what? Watch the 'bluebloods' play hockey?

But they don't, so there's that. Here's to football, and 'democracy'. It's easy to speak if you don't go through stuff in this great land, daily. It's deeper than most would ever imagine. Cause you simply will never understand, or be privy to see and conquer. God bless my parents for stature. #Ranting. #ThoseWithEarsShallHear
Well Brett Favre has copper fit products now. We could sign him and get another 10 years out of him.
After a decade of this losing nonsense. I am no longer optimistic nor pessimistic. I am just on the fence. When they win? Cool. When they lose? Okay.

I've become comfortably numb.

Sadly, this has become mostly true of myself. I remember when I used to view Jags games with a since of excitement... but that was a long time ago, when we had a winning franchise. Now, I've come to just expect the worst. I hope for the best... though I've not much hope anymore.

As for Kap...
First off, he wasn't very good where he came from. He got benched for Blaine Gabbert for heavens sake!

Secondly, Jacksonville is a military town; has been for a long, long time. We have a very high percentage of active duty military and veterans who live here. While it won't be 100% true of all of them, most of these folks would be deeply offended if Kap was brought here due to his disrespectful act of not standing during the national anthem. Maybe that wasn't the intent of the act, but that was certainly the result. A smarter person would've come up with a better way to air their views.

Why would any thinking owner or GM want a low production distraction on their team? Answer: they don't, which is why Kap ain't working. He simply isn't the answer for our situation.

So...what do we do then? At this point in the game it's pretty obvious that we should continue to ride the horse that got us here until it's time to put 'er down. Yes, I mean stick with Bortles until it's obvious to all that he can't do the job. When that happens, we've got Henne and Allen. That's our season... that's why Vega's has us at no better than 5.5 wins this season. I think that if there had been a truly better option available at draft time, we would've tried for it, but there wasn't. Next draft there should be some better picks available for quarterback.

It all rides on Bortles now.

Agreed. We all have our viewpoints. The Colin debate has been beaten up enough around here. From a business standpoint it's pretty evident as to why he's not been signed. He made his bed and now he has to live with that.

Right now though it does appear to be another five to six win team just based on our situation at Quarterback. I've vented my frustrations enough on this topic. I'll still tune into the team. I'll still pop up around here like I usually do.

Might end up making or buying a crying Jordan meme shirt with a Jaguar's logo on it saying "Duval till we die".  Big Grin

Humor is always the best approach for subpar entertainment.
How can someone say I'm not as pessimistic as you guys after what we watched last Thursday? I don't think anyone here is that pessimistic based on what our qb play looks like.

He's not the starter because he's not as good.  If he was he would at least get mentioned.
I see three scenarios to the Panthers game.

Henne and Bortles split time in the first half. This is the most likely scenario.

Henne starts most of the first half, and Bortles follows against the scrubs.

Henne starts the first quarter, followed by Allen, with Bortles against the scrubs. This is what i would do. I really want to see Allen play against Carolina's starters. And i don't think another start for Bortles is going to change what's fundamentally wrong with his game.
