Assuming Blake's play continues as is, would you contemplate making a trade for McCarron in the offseason? He has played well whenever called upon and has made it known that he wants to be a starter. I am not talking about giving up a high pick, but if you could get him for a 3rd-mid round pick, do you contemplate it? Both Bortles and McCarron's contract will be up at the same time so they could battle in camp next year and the loser walks at the end of the season.
I am just not sure I have it in me to watch us draft a QB and waste a few years waiting for help to develop. I truly believe we could be a decent team with the talent we have if we just had decent QB play.
ewwwww, alabama QBs, also, weak arm
Is McCarron going to be that much of an upgrade over Allen who's already on the roster though? Granted, McCarron has NFL experience and that means something, but is he really that much better (read as: costing-a-draft-pick better) than a guy you've already got for the next four years?
That trade scenario might be tempting for the Bengals because 2017 is the final season of A.J. McCarron's contract and the Jaguars probably will be picking in the upper part of Round 3.
One question that comes to mind is could the Bengals get a 2nd Round pick for McCarron from a team that needs a better starting QB option than they have? It's hard to say at this time because of possible Front Office and Coaching changes around the NFL but it's interesting to speculate about these type of situations.
If the Jaguars had A.J. McCarron this season and everything else was constant ( the same ) with the team in terms of personnel, how many games do you think the Jaguars would have won through the first 9 games of the season?
How's his wind up? Does it take less than 3 seconds?
I dont think AJ is all that good himself but im finw with this.
Sure.......Where is JaMarcus Russell ?
He's a winner. Bortles is a loser.
I don't see Allen's ceiling being any higher than a solid backup (albeit I've only seen him in a few playoff games) whereas I think McCarron's ceiling is that of a solid NFL starter.
McCarron put up decent stats filling in for Dalton last year and I tend to believe he would do well here. Honestly I think any QB could do well here assuming they can hit a WIDE OPEN WR in stride.
Going forward I would continue to build talent up on this roster and would bring in a vet QB to push Bortles. The reason I picked AJ is because I think he's the only one we would have a realistic shot at getting (outside of drafting a QB).
I doubt the Pats give up Jimmy, we won't dish out the money Cousins would want, Romo would break in half here and there will not really be anyone else available that's worth much.
I do think we have enough talent (and will have more high draft picks to add more this year... Sigh). With a decent coaching staff and an average QB who could hit wide open receivers we should be .500 at minimum.

Probably 10 plates deep at Golden Corral. Not sure what this has to do with AJ McCarron though.
Yes i would. Looks good in the time hes played.
Quote:List of free agent qb's next year.
I can't say this list is very intriguing to me. idk

Hoyer and Glennon are the ones id look at.
I liked AJ Mac, puts his team in situations for success and is a winner. Understands the game well.
the only decent free agent qbs are kirk and geno, kirk probably wont hit the market and Geno is still pretty unknown

lol
Id do it. I liked him coming out too

you gonna say something of worth or no
Pass. Just take a shot with the 3rd rounder. AJ is not the answer.
