Having a good year.
That 54 yarder today was drilled right down the middle and would've been good from further out.
Hindsight:
Gus should've opted for the FG attempt at the end of the first half instead of trying a 4th down conversion, ESPECIALLY after seeing Myers drill that 54 yarder.
Jags end up losing by 3. Imagine that.
Take the points when they're there Gus. Duh.

If only he was the only thing that needed to be fixed from last year.

This is why you key board GM's and coaches will continue to be key board and GM coaches.

How long would a FG attempt be at that spot? We were in FG range, then sent backward a few yards on third down. It was definitely the wrong call but I am not sure if Myers would have made it from there.
The thread title describes 99% of the board. Did anybody not want Caldwell to cut Myers during preseason?

While he was missing PAT's he was also knocking down kicks from 50+, he has the leg strength he just needed to get used to kicking in front of 10's of thousands rather than the 1,000 or so the stadium at Marist fits. Now that he has the confidence I think he'll settle in.
Also to be fair to Myers, Scobee struggled similarly in his rookie year with missing short/easy kicks but once he settled in and got confident he was automatic!
hopefully Myers can be the next chapter of solid Kickers for Jax along with Hollis and Scobee

What does getting used to the number of fans around him have to do with missing PATs while making 50+ FG attempts? Absolutely nothing.
Fans don't like it when kickers are cut after being drafted. Everybody would complain we wasted a draft pick and gave up too early on Scobee.

You just hope some of our players can turn it up and just improve aside from of our ST guys

We need ST guys to improve too. Three different players fumbled punt returns in three straight games. That is unacceptable. It is nice we don't have to put kicker on the top of our ST weakness list anymore.

I was right about Myers. He just needed a year, much like scobee.
But that means squat cuz a lot of us were right about Gus after last year. And thus we are where we are.

Last year I kept telling people it is too early to judge Gus Bradley because we still did not have enough talent on defense.

You were wrong. There was plenty of evidence to verify that Bradley is not qualified to be a head coach by the end of last season.

There is a long history of NFL coaches who are great with talented players but look really bad when the kind of roster we had. The only way to know is have a talented roster.

It's sad when a thread about our kicker is remaining relevant

That guy killed the ball today. Unbelievable how far he had to tee it up from each kick.

No it's not. What's sad is when a thread about a kicker switches to the HC.
