It got a lot harder to book a shrink in NYC after Trump’s win

President-elect Donald Trump is driving New Yorkers crazy.

Anxiety is so high in the Big Apple following Trump’s astonishing presidential win that patients are rushing to their therapists to book emergency therapy sessions.

If this is a serious article is it a picture of how much fear people have of a man. A flesh and blood person who has done nothing yet other than open his mouth and say reckless things that may or may not have been said just to get a rise out of people to get the vote. And the press ran away with it and vilified him more than the actual person people should be worried about. The woman who allowed classified information to possibly be seen by all the wrong people. National security issues. Homeland security issues. Who knows what other issues. We don't know the degree to which her stupidity and lies will affect this nation yet people are freaking out over a known egotist who says whatever he can to get attention.

Who is the bigger threat?

How the hell did we get to the place where Trump was considered the better POTUS and his now former opponent is a criminal?

It's not entirely unsurprising. Disappointing, sure, but not a surprise. The left had so thoroughly brainwashed its followers into thinking that Trump wants to commit ethnic cleansing while nuking Mexico and grabbing teenage girls in the crotch that many, many people couldn't help but see him as some kind of Hitler figure. The far right (not like JIB far right, like, David Duke far right) has been thrust into the spotlight in a way it hasn't been in decades, primarily due to the far left spending the last 12 months telling us all that Donald Trump is some kind of Khan Noonien Singh, just not nearly as smart and not nearly as cool.

Although the mental image of Hillary screaming "TRUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMP" into a cell phone so loud that it echoes through space is amusing.

It's not even a millennial snowflake thing. I know a lesbian couple in their 50's who are straight-up terrified of what's going to happen to the rights they've slowly gained over the last 20 years. One of my oldest friends is a doctor in family practice in a low-income area. I don't know if they perform abortions and I don't intend to ask, because I'm sure that's not something they would really want to go into anyway, but they're openly afraid that they'll have to wear a bulletproof vest to work, like their coworkers did 20 years ago. And, yeah, there are the millions of jilted Bernie Sanders supporters who are now even more pissed about his being forced out of the race. True story: if it had been Sanders vs. Trump, Sanders would have won. People like him. He knows how to organize a campaign. His supporters know this and have been shoving everyone's nose in it on Facebook for the last 36 hours.

So, yeah, it's not surprising that people want help processing everything that's going on. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but it's pretty much the liberal media's fault (who are you and what have you done with TJ?). They made Trump out to be the love child of Hitler and Mel Gibson thinking that he'd pass on and become a punchline, mentioned in the same breath as Dukakis and Mondale, and then he won somehow, and now we have the large subset of Americans that eat out of Don Lemon's hand rioting, protesting, crying into their cereal and, yep, looking for a shrink. Never mind that his competitor was everything you pointed out and possibly responsible for a few hits over the years, too.

Sometimes I just want to walk up to one of the Clinton crybabies and remind them that it's ok, everything's gonna be ok. Ten years ago, Trump was a better Democrat than Hillary ever was.
Well said, TJ. I see a shrink for depression and anxiety so I know it's a very real thing. But to be so distraught over Trump winning..... I guess the DNC machine, MSM, and cable news channels really did a number on folks. I guess I'm the sort of person who just handles stuff. Things are the way they are and unless or until stuff hits the fan I'm going to go about the business of living my life.
I don't believe Bernie would have beaten Trump.  Even though Hillary and co. meddled with the already corrupt process of the Democrat primary which involves superdelegates, she still beat him outright in more contests than not and had a significant popular vote advantage over him.  Just because most Democrats are far left doesn't mean they all are and would support someone like Bernie.  I just find it very hard to believe that an admitted socialist running on a socialist platform could reach 270 electoral votes in this country.  Admittedly, it's apparent that Bernie would have gotten a decent amount of electoral votes, something that probably wasn't possible 20+ years ago.

Michael Savage believes liberalism is a mental disorder.

This would support that.

It did not used to be this way.

There's been a lot of hyberbole and overstatment in demonizing the other side of the aisle (from both sides, but clearly moreso from the extreme left as this mental breakdown phenomenon does not happen to the right when the left wins.)

The extreme left has been turned into something that resembles a religious cult.  They live and breathe their party's "values" and crusade against eliminating the thoughts and ideas that oppose them.  Not all, just the extremists (not everyone is rioting in the streets and overbooking their shrinks.)  It's an unholy war against anyone who doesn't assimilate to the D.

Just what is that supposed to mean?

Very much so.
The majority of them needed shrinks well before Trump..

But we must blame Trump for our mental disorder.

Just like blaming the professor when you didn't earn the A.

Always seeking external blame to avoid internal reflection.

This is exactly why I have a hard time understanding their distress.

These people seem to have no reason to exist other than to, as you said, assimilate people to the D. I have a life to live. A husband to love, a house to clean, friends to hang out with, parents to visit, state certification exams to study for. I'm all about believing in a cause or whatever, but to go to extremes is not something I am interested in. I don't know if it's my personality or my age but there is nothing to get that hyped up over. It could be my age and life experiences because the things I used to see as a Big Deal just aren't anymore.
I had an LBGT friend of mine ask that all his Facebook friends who voted for Trump unfriend him.

No way, I consider him my friend even if he's so distraught.  My vote doesn't mean I don't support him and his lifestyle like he thinks.

I've got other LGBT friends and family and none of them acted that way.  Some of them even voted the way I did for Trump.

I think people actually believe in government more than they do their fellow citizens, family, and friends.  It's a completely skewed and dangerous worldview.

That is such a perfect and really scary way to describe it. Dang that's freaky. I guess I've thought the same thing but never quite in those words. Somehow we have cultivated a sector of society that remind me of the kids in Pink Floyd's video for Brick in the Wall. The group of people who used to be seen as anti-establishment are now trying to build their own.

Edited to add: I have had several friends just straight up unfriend me and they are all very liberal. I never posted anything on Facebook that was offensive politically leading up to the election. Unless people were offended that I am Libertarian which many of my very conservative friends take issue with but we're still friends on FB and in life. I thought it to be a sad thing indeed.

That compared to David Duke, you are a liberal sissy.

Yet you call me far right?

I've lost several Facebook friends over this, all Hillary supporters. It seems that the following topics are off limits:

1. The world is not ending.

2. Trump is not evil incarnate.

3. Third party votes are not "thrown away" or "closet Trump votes"...seriously, I've seen people post that anyone who voted for a third party in this election was secretly a Trump supporter without enough balls to actually vote for him.

4. The electoral college exists for a reason, and your candidate losing the election is not cause to amend it out of existence.

5. Pay for your own damn college.
How's the echo chamber going fellas? You guys needs some drinks, maybe something to nibble on?

You're the type of guy who would go to a NASCAR race and complain about all the turns being to the left.

LOL.  No, my complaint when I went to my last NASCAR race was all of the damn kids there!
