No he's not. He would still have to apply for reinstatement, which is never going to happen.

Saints never realeased him, he was on their practice squad and we signed him to our active roster. Teams are free to sign any other teams practice squad players to their active rosters

Yep thanks, I saw that so that's why I deleted my post.
Here's McCaffery getting open on an extended play in the preseason. He's lined up at the Z.

Even look at Bryan Walters like others have said. Of course I don't know the health of these guys but they would be better IMO than a guy who cant even make a team in the past 4 years.

Say What?  he graduated college in 2016.

Usually you make an NFL roster when you leave college.  I know there are certain exceptions where a player may play both college and pro in the same year but that is very rare.
I actually used to be pretty impressed with Max when he was at Duke. I didn't think he would have as big of an impact in the NFL but excited to see what he can add in ARob's absence.

Christian will be very good, but I can't make a similar prediction for everyone with the last name McCaffrey. It happened in the Matthews family, with Casey being nowhere near as good as anyone named Clay.

Also, does it really matter that he went to Duke or are you just stating a fact?
Just stating fact and I'm the rare Duke football fan, so I witnessed much of it. He's always open and always makes the catch and not just in the typical white boy kind of way. He has legit 4.3 speed. Our WRs dropped a few catchable balls to be sure on Sunday. For all you that said Walters, think of his hands but in a bigger and more mobile frame, that's mccaffrey.

Sounds like a great pickup then but why was he on the practice squad if he's as good as he sounds?

Why was jimmy smith or Keenan mccardell ever on a practice squad?

Whose practice squad were they on? Jimmy was a street free agent due to illness and Keenan was acquired in trade.
Wasn't Jimmy cut from three different teams? I can't remember honestly...

The kid sounds like good potential. Hopefully. But then again, i'm also hopeful Lee will play a LOT better this next week. All the receivers need to step up, and that includes Lewis too

The cowboys drafted him in the second round. He broke his fibula in pre-season then had appendix surgery and got a bad infection. The cowboys didn't want to pay him his full salary while he was hurt - then waived him when he wouldn't take a pay cut the following year.

He was then an eagle for six weeks - then waived and signed by the Jags.
The guy is our 5th WR, the team is not asking him to be the number 1 WR to replace Robinson, man some of you people just like to overact
God...I would dream if JB was finally right, reinstated, and ready to go.

He's the type of guy who could go out in any offense and put up 5 for 60+.

27 years old. One can only dream.
Bryan Walters isn't coming back - he was put on IR and wasn't on the final 53 man roster.  Even if he were eligible to return the Jags would bring back Dede Westrbook instead anyway.

How long was Dede supposed to be out?
