With the Jaguars there are so many nominees as worst pick for franchise history. The top 10 picks alone are bad

Blackmon
Gabbert
Joeckle
Reggie Williams
Harvey
Then the later picks like Soward and Matt Jones, etc
That being said this franchise picked this guy at #3 to be the face of the franchise. This is a man who can't make a basic NFL throw into his fourth year and can't read a defense. There were question marks on his throwing before he was even drafted. Do you believe he is the worst pick of this franchise?
For me it's an easy yes. Others may still have hope.
How is he worse than Joeckel? Joeckel just gets knocked on his [BLEEP] every other play.

Yes he's considered a bad pick at this point, but good lord. We traded up for Gabbert. Then there's Blackmon, Soward, Harvey, Jones... All much worse picks off the top of my head.
Good lord... Bortles didn't lose the game, the TEAM lost the game. Penalties are the big thing. Only 1 of the three turnovers is on Blake, that being the pass to Marquise Lee that was batted up in the air for a pick.
In hindsight, Bortles wasn't exactly the best pick in franchise history, but the worst?

All of those guys were much more damaging to the franchise than Blake was. Although the Henry YouTube video is pretty epic

Harvey was the worst. if Soward were drafted any higher than he was he'd have that designation tbh. Bortles is in the conversation but he's not worse than Gabbert on the list. Joeckel was in such a weak draft which doesnt excuse it but does make it more palatable I guess.
I really dont know why Justin Blackmon is on this list tbh. He was as talented as they come and actually produced every time he was on the field. I cant really consider his off the field issues making him a bust since it didnt impact his production. Also Reggie Williams wasnt the best pick in history but he wasnt the worst. in 2007 he set a Jags record with 10 TD's in a season. He was tall and had good hands he just couldnt get much seperation.
Reggie Nelson was pretty awful here. Didn't we trade him for a useless cb?

The fumble was 100% Robinson's fault. The first interception was a fluke lucky tip by a tack DLman. When the ball was released the hand was not up, and the DLman couldn't see Bortles when he jumped. The last interception was Bortles throwing behind the receiver, so it was totally his fault.
Even excluding the turnovers, Bortles was disappointing, but he didn't have any help either. There weren't any receivers open, at least until garbage time. I saw one pass to Cole where Cole was grabbed and couldn't get to it, but it would have been a long completion had the uncalled interference not happened. The pick called on Hurns was bogus too.

Yes, and at just the wrong time. Nelson was playing much better and was the Jags leading tackler that preseason. Had the Jags had any decent safety play in 2010 we would have won the division.
It could be argued. He has kept our franchise down longer than any other draft pick. Gabbert was worse, but we ran him out of town and moved on after year 3. Same with the other busts, we moved on quicker. Bortles is in the midst of torpedoing the franchise for the 4th year, and if he gets hurt maybe a 5th year. From that angle, quite possibly yes.

Do you honestly think Bortles "torpedoed" the team his first two seasons? That roster was garbage wen he was drafted. Get over yourselves with this BS. He is not good, we know that. He hasn't "torpedoed" this franchise except last year (and Sunday).
I think you can make a solid argument for it - considering the talent on the board when we took him, and his initial promise fooling everyone into hanging onto him for this long.

For position and draft position, Blake Bortles is absolutely the WORST draft pick in this franchise history and its not even close. You can see it in Bortles' eyes that he simply does not care about football or getting better.
The fact that David Caldwell got an inside look at Carr and only chose Bortles because he THOUGHT he would be the top pick next year had he stayed in school "Over Winston and Mariota", is a crime in itself.
Caldwell's inability to simply admit he was wrong is costing this franchise years and years of setbacks.
