The ball was like 3 yards into the endzone when it came out.

There is clear evidence he crossed the plane. If they don't overturn it its a bad call.

Irrelevant. The refs can get away with screwing us and they know it.

How can an NFL team really be this bad?

0% chance that is the right call.  Either he was down before the fumble or it's a touchdown.
