On the other hand, of course, I think it'd be great if the Texans' players walked out and refused to practice.

I get what you are saying however, as a Navy Vet and the son of a Marine Vet that is married to a Navy Vet whom is the daughter of an Air Force Vet that happen to be Legacy Season Ticket Owners I have to ask why should we acquiesce to people we pay to entertain us?

I think this issue is far too complex to pigeon hole in such a simplistic manner.

With that said the players IMO bare the burden of reaching out to people in my demographic and explain themselves.  Not the other way around.

For the record, I personally support their form of protest though I do not agree with it.

Weak as [BLEEP].

When life gives you the finger, you can either politely take it or two-fist 'em right back.

Really, you equate an insult from one's boss (and questionably one at that) with life giving you the finger?

"Life" doesn't have to mean *life*. Life is everyday occurrences, like your boss accidentally flipping you the bird. You can smile and take it or you can flip it right back. The difference here is that you and I know that flipping your boss off is a good way to get yourself fired. NFL players seem to not realize the chances of that, not understand what being waived and not claimed means for their future, or they just don't care.
Tbh I don't think McNair will care about the "protest" as long as they train and play.

What if your boss is just waving at you, and you mistake him waving with giving you the finger, so you shoot him the bird and tell all your friends that he did it first? Seems a lot more like what is happening here.

I can't disagree with that assessment, though I think a wave is too friendly. But no, I don't think McNair meant it the way it came across at all, and I don't think any explanation short of, "Hey guys, I'm actually a huge closet racist, and I am so sorry about that. I'm headed to counseling in the morning," would have appeased the players.

And that a textbook example of the inmates running the asylum.
Bob Mcnair is an idiot. While I'm not for the players kneeling, they are playing for someone that has zero clue what is going on or who is playing for him. He could have said what he said in a million different ways and yet somehow chose the worst way possible to say it.

Everyone knows what he meant, and I'm 99% sure he didn't mean it the way he did, but still....what an absolute idiot.

Owners, players, analysts.... Everyone needs to realize that someone is recording you at all times.

People shouldn't be offended by being called criminals?

I think maybe the biggest problem in this situation, and many others facing the NFL is that it is a player's league...... not an "owner's" league

These two statements together might be the most completely wrong thing ever posted on this forum. Good jorb.

He used an analogy to describe the situation.

He didn't call them inmates.

As are apologies.
If he really was talking about Goodell and company in his statement, then he should be getting kudos from the players, not backlash.
