I'm not angry about this, but I couldn't help but notice that Ivory didn't play very much Sunday or was that just me being several beers in? I liked Yeldon getting more snaps but one thing that frustrated me was when the defense hasn't stacked the box against us, Ivory has done a fantastic job running screen plays. With the Chargers taking away the run and pinning their ears back, i excpected us to try one or two. Isn't Ivory now the odd man out

Nah, Marrone talked about it. Look, Fournette.. as good as he is.. the man straight up had an ankle problem. I don't care who says not, be he does. He has now aggravated it 5 times within the last two years, and these are documented aggravations. Ivory will be the feature this week at CLE that is my gut. Snowy windy conditions means RUN BALL TIME... and I don't think the coaching staff would put 4nette in a situation to injury his ankle further.

If he's cleared by the doctors to play and he wants to play, he plays. Whether he's hurt or not. At this point of the season, who isn't beat up and hurt honestly? That's just the name of the game.

Marrone already went through what happens with injuries and how it goes. He clearly said, first and foremost the doctors have to clear the player to play. If they clear said player to play, it's then up to the player if he feels he can play or not.

As far as the original post goes, nobody was doing anything in the run game, in this past game. The Chargers completely shut down the running game all day. It literally looked like we were just running into a literal brick wall on nearly every rushing attempt, no matter who was running it.

Continuing to run for 1, or 2 yards every play and then having Bortles try to make magic happen on every 3rd and long isn't going to work. Been there, done that. That's why they completely went away from the running game because it wasn't doing anything. A 3rd and 3 attempt is better than a 3rd and 7 attempt every single time, no matter how you got there.
I'm okay with it. I believe Yeldon is the far superior back.

I dunno about far superior, but I believe he's the better back as well.

So you want to run the #4 overall pick with 3 documented aggravated ankle injury RB who missed 6 games his last collegiate career and now is showing wear and tear on that same ankle he has now aggravated 2 times as a Jag in the snow on 30 degree weather with 24 howlin winds... ok man...run em... run em all day... clearly u havent played a single down in your life.

I think it's comedy that you seem to think you know me, or anybody else's situation on the matter, but I'll bite.

My football career ended my senior year of high school. That's because I, like most people who play football, don't make it beyond high school football.

The funniest thing of this all is, you seem to think you know better than the player himself. As well as the fact that you also seem to think you know better than the doctors who cleared him to play...

I didn't say anything about this weeks coming game. You're simply projecting and reaching. We were talking about this past game. But please, go on and on about how your opinion on the matter out weighs everybody else's.

I can't see how you can draw this conclusion. Maybe in pass pro? Or coming out of the backfield, maybe. As a pure runner though? No way you take Yeldon over Ivory. That said, I hope we see more of Ivory this next game.. We are going to need it... Its going to be quite cold and windy up in Cleveland!
Yeldon is not a better runningback than Ivory.

I don't know if I am reading what you guys up there are saying wrong, but I just felt that needed to be said.

Yeldon better in pass pro? Yes. Coming out of the back field? Yes.

As a pure runner? Ivory has only 100 more rushing yards than Yeldon this season, yet Ivory has 55 more carries...

I played D1 college ball. Playing ball has nothing to do about it, its literal common sense. You wanna drive the Lamborghini in the snow? Pure idiot. Straight up. Let the 4nette HEAL.... appropriately... he will run his ankle in the the ground at this rate..

For some reason who the reason to bring up your past... any ATHLETE knows how an ankle works... so i brought up mine... ankles are very hard and ofcourse any nfl player wants to play for a paycheck to provide... maybe thats something you forget?.... As a coach I hope Marrone is very cautious...lose 4nette... lose it all... they would have ZERO weapons on O.... period..

Yea I bet you played D1, but regardless... You're the one who brought up the past saying I've never played a single down.. You honestly just sound like you're talking out of your [BLEEP] at this point, but that's fine.

Fournette literally just sat and healed for 3 weeks.. The doctors cleared Fournette to play.. Fournette said he wanted to play.. If Marrone then continues to sit him, EVERYBODY is then ripping Marrone into pieces for not playing Fournette.. Even though he was medically cleared to play. Are you really that clueless?

Actually, I think you are that clueless. Fournette's contract is fully guaranteed. Just like every top draft pick's contract is now days. Whether he plays, or not. The only way he isn't going to get paid is if he does some stupid stuff that gets him suspended without pay.
Yeldon got snaps over Ivory due to his pass protection ability with the Jags facing Ingram and Bosa.

Would I have like to have seen some second down runs and screens to Ivory that we didn't see? Hell yes.
I bet we see some of that in cleveland.

I'd be fine with them resting Fournette if they think they can get him ready for the hawks and tacks by giving him time to heal. Especially if we are trotting out a bunch of back-up linemen again.

I'd like to have him for the Arizona game.  That one is far from a gimme. They have a pretty good secondary and would like to give them a big dose of Fournette if healthy.
I think the coaches need to go with the hot hand so to speak, whomever that may be for a particular game. All about momentum. Also, I noticed Fournette may be relying on talent versus knowing the plays. It was disturbing how many of his runs were to the wrong gap especially on FB leads. Several long runs available if he had just run as designed.

I played D1 college ball.

Your name, college, and graduating year?
I think people are forgetting that the other team has some good players that get paid and will make some plays from time to time. They have two really good edge rushers. Boss is possibly top 2-3 at his position already. Perryman is a beast and is a throwback tackle machine. No one was hurt they just keyed in on our run game just like every team we faced. We just played someone with the tools to execute their game plan. Couple that with some injuried offensive linemen and it makes perfect sense why Fournette looks “hurt”. He was most likely more rusty than anything playing a team determined to stop him.

He literally limped off of the field at one point and Marrone said he'd probably show up on the injury report this week in his postgame presser.   I do believe he is indeed hurt.

All of your points are good ones otherwise.

That’s true. I just think everyone has some knicks and bruises this time of year. That’s just the game. If he honestly couldn’t play she wouldn’t be playing. So the injury thing to me is just a little over the top. It’s prolly gonna be an on going issue the remainder of the year for him. Possibly his career. Its just the sport. I remember McNair played hurt proly 10 years straight for the tacks lol. It’s just how it goes

Perryman played a HUGE role in this game. It was his first game back in a while and you can see how much better their run defense played.
