I am wondering, who got to drive this McLaren supercar back to the impound lot?

He should be ashamed he got caught. That car has 60+ mph easy on a Charger.

You may outrun that Charger but you're not going to outrun that Radio....
That's about what I do in I-10.

I think the police-version Charger has a top speed of about 150, while the McLaren has a top speed of 212.  So you are right, about 60 mph advantage.

According to the "article" he didn't really get caught. He just pulled over.

It does say he was drunk.  Probably not enough confidence in his driving skill at 150+ while hammered to make a go of it.
In my more troubled youth days I got an Srt8 up to 135 and that was scary enough for all of 5 seconds I kept that speed. Can't imagine 140+

In my more troubled youth days I remember taking my parent's Oldsmobile Omega (don't remember the model year) to in my estimation around 120 (the speedometer only went to 80 and I remember the needle indicating between the "D" and the "N" of the transmission setting).  Keep in mind, this was a 4 door "family car" from the '70's and I was racing downhill.  I remember the car feeling "floaty" at top speed.

When I look back on it now I'm extremely lucky that I didn't kill myself and/or somebody else.
I’ve got a Lincoln up around there before  Banana
I got my rental BMW 318d up to its governed 220 kph (136 mph) on the autobahn. As I was rowing that fire breathing turbo diesel four cylinder through 120 mph I had to move over so a mom with kids in the back of her large Mercedes 4-door could sail past me.
Oh...never mind...I thought he ran over 143 people.

In my not-so-troubled youth, I drove my friend's mom's Oldsmobile Cutlass at 120 for over an hour on I-95 going from Marathon Key back to Jacksonville.   There was a little convoy of 3 cars going 120.   There was a redneck driving a Chevy something in front, and some lady in a station wagon was bringing up the rear.   That's the fastest I've ever driven.   Four guys in the car, just graduated high school, and a trunk full of scuba tanks and luggage.
