Quote:You could say that about very important players at almost any position.
The Jets are a little different. Bryce Petty is starting. Is that a tank job?
It's noticeably more pronounced at the QB position.
As for the Jets, with the way Ryan Fitzpatrick has played this season and with him dealing with a knee injury, the Jets have practically nothing to lose by giving Bryce Petty an extensive opportunity. It's hard to envision Fitzpatrick being back with the Jets in 2017. The Jets aren't going to pick up the option on his contract and I doubt the two parties will want to work out a modified contract agreement.
Quote:Do you remember who we spent the #5 overall pick on this year and how well he panned out?
Or the obvious fact that if we had good coaches, our two #3 overall picks would be much better?
You have no idea if the bold part is true or not. That's just an opinion. One that I happen to think is dead wrong.
Quote:I just hope we have the common sense to trade down and accumulate more picks. Spending a high draft pick on one guy who doesn't pan out is killing this team. Let's accumulate picks and start to build the O-Line, including trying to get some quality backups in the later rounds. We have poor starters at most of the O-Line spots and zero depth behind them.
Nah. I'd rather have one "premium" talent over two or three "solids". There is a risk and a cost that goes with that mentality, but to me that's just the cost of doing business. I want as many great players as I can get.

One premium O-Lineman isn't going to help this team. Linder is the only one currently pulling his weight. Give me an entire draft of solid picks and maybe this team can start heading in the right direction.
We set the record last year.
We also set the record for most consecutive years picking in the Top 10.... 2 years ago.

So far every poster has blamed all penalties on Gus Bradley, which of course would include Dante Fowler's string of fouls.

Have you paid any attention to the Cleveland Browns lately? They passed (pun not intended) on Carson Wentz to collect a bunch of picks for solid players. Look at how that worked out for them and the Eagles.

That's Cleveland for God's sake! Everything they do is wrong. They make bad choices every year. They are in a category of their own when it comes to stupidity. When you need a QB and have a talent like Wentz on the board, you take him. There is no Wentz in this coming draft, so it's a different scenario.

You are missing the point. I am saying your strategy is the same as what the Browns did for years. So if you don't want to be like the Browns, do the opposite of what they did, which is pick a premium player at the top.

No, you're missing the point. You don't trade down when you have no franchise QB and one is available to you. That's what the Browns did and they were wrong. This year, there is no Carson Wentz in the draft and we have huge needs all along the O-Line, so trading down and accumulating picks makes sense. One great player isn't going to put us over the top. We need several quality players.
Cleveland was where we were in '13, so them trading down to restock the shelves makes some sense. Reaching for Cody Kessler when Dak was still on the board was a pretty Browns-type move, tho.
