In one of my leagues, I am 1-7. I have been the 2nd highest scorer in the league 6 weeks this season and just played the wrong guy. By 2nd highest scorer, I mean 30+ points over the 3rd highest scorer every week.

I am finally convinced there is absolutely zero skill involved in FF.

Now, its onto playing spoiler and dominating the toilet bowl!

Yup, I've had years like that.

Tons of luck involved in FF, unless you're in a league that is just strictly points and no head to head matchups.
I realized this in I think my 3rd year playing it.  it's random luck at every step in the process.  The "experts" only win because they're in 50 leagues.  Haven't played since.

Yeah, that format would be nice to try.
I think I might take a break from fantasy football after this season.

I say that every year, but your passion gets rejuvenated when everybody is 0-0.

I am finding myself more interested in survivor leagues these days and want to try a salary cap league as well.
In my league I run, the top 3 teams record wise make the playoffs with the 4th team being the one of the remaining 7 with the most points for on the season. I do it for exactly this reason. Head to head can be so fluky, but I still want head to head match-up.

I like this. I am going to propose this.

You [BLEEP].
Really, FF is all luck of the draw.. Nobody really knows how well these players are gonna do, who's gonna get injured and so forth. I've prolly been playin for a long time.. I have tons of 1st place championship trophies.. But I also have TONS AND TONS AND TONS of losing teams..
Just find a league with morons. I win every year. We have a guy that will only draft players from the Patriots. Others who never set their lineup. Hit me up next year and it can be a 2 man show.

I like playing in leagues where you have two head to head matches each week instead of one. That will prevent the scenario where you're the second highest scorer of the week and still lose. Granted, you may only go 1-1 that week if it happens but it's better than going 0-1. It also penalizes guys who win low-scoring matches and has them go 1-1 instead of 1-0 when they go up against a dud.

Overall, it balances things out better and prevents scenarios like the one described by the OP.
Man... I just need to give up on playing FF with Jag forum members... in my 10+ years playing the past two years in the Jag board leagues Ive joined Ive done my worse....Im currently winless. No clue why I cant win in these leagues lol but my main  league. my yahoo and my espn leagues Im doing OKAY but man RB's this year have been brutal for me....
