Quote:Tank for Myles..its a pity the Browns will beat us to that.

He is worth tanking for honestly. He could be the next Von, except a more pure pass rusher.

Having said that. I really DON'T want the Jaguars to extend their record for consecutive Top 5 and Top 10 draft picks in 2017.  I realize that would require at worst a 6-10 record which will not happen, but I hate those records.

Quote:Might as well. We got a lame duck coach and a potential lame duck GM. Any wins at this point would be out of sheer luck. Time to put Jack, Day, and maybe even Allen in full time so these guys can get some experience in for next year.

What makes you think Dave Caldwell is a potential lame duck GM? He is not in the last year of his contract and definitely is not a problem in Jacksonville.

There is no reason to want the team to tank. We can win some games and still fire Gus Bradley at the end.
How will we be able to tell?
This team doesn't have to tank. They are already poopoo
Sadly, it's not tanking when you just plain suck this badly.

No need to tank.... we'll get there naturally with no effort.

Since this team fails at everything, we'd know they are tanking if they start winning.
Quote:I read a column that said the Jags should start trading aging veterans in anticipation of a new regime starting a new rebuild.   They suggested trading Sen'Derrick Marks or Dan Skuta.

That was one writer's opinion. I highly doubt anybody who knows what we have done the last three years would agree we have to rebuild our roster all over again.

That is not to say trading an aging veteran is a bad idea.
I really think we should put Hurns on IR.  BB5 is gonna get our best offensive player killed out there.

We should protect the one player on offense that shows he has heart and wants to play.

Protecting Allen Hurns is as simple as demoting him to third string, and there is no reason to do that.
Our biggest rival for the #1 overall pick is Cleveland.  Lets compare remaining schedules:

Jags:

Jax@Kansas City:  This one could get real ugly.  I got the Jags losing by atleast 14 here.

Houston@Jax: Houston should cruise by us

Jax@Detroit: Another Loss

Jax@Buffalo: Could be real ugly

Den@Jax No chance

Min@Jax: Another beating

Jax@Houston: Another loss

Ten@Jax: They just destroyed us so loss

Jax@Colts:  A pickem game

Cleveland has been close and has some very winnable games coming up,.  They face the struggling Jets, Ravens, Steelers, Bengals, Chargers.  All of those teams are inconsistent and I believe Cleveland will win atleast a couple.

demoting him isn't protecting him, silly.

Placing him on IR is protecting him.  Come on, you know better than that.

Less time on the field = less risk of injury. Pretty obvious. If we have less than seven injured players, some backups are healthy scratches. So yes, it does protect him. But there is no reason to do that. We need him.

IR = no time on the field. That's protecting him. What do we need him for in this waste of an NFL season?

IR is only for injured players. You don't put healthy players on the list for any reason.

Did you watch the game last night at all? Hurns looked pretty injured to me.

Hurns got killed on that play.  AND HE STILL CAUGHT IT!

The guy is a champ.  No need to waste his talent and potentially get him injured for this garbage offense.  If we are gonna keep gus, you might as well protect your assets.

IR is for players whose injuries are known to be long term. His obviously is not or he would have left the game early.

Because the Jets suck and have the same record (2-5) this season, I went to one of their forums, Jets Nation, to compare their fans to ours. Here is a thread about tanking:

http://forums.jetnation.com/topic/129522...ntionally/

The OP started it to say no teams tank intentionally. Here are some notable posts:

nyjunc: why would any fan want their team to tank? fans are too obsessed w/ the crapshoot of the draft,

JiF: This!  The idea of a tank only exist in the mind of the fans. It's like the old, "winning meaningless games in Dec/Jan" gooblygoop that fans complain about.  As if the Jets would even get it right if they had a high pick.

Smashmouth: No player in the NFL is going to tank nor be asked to tank that's ridiculous. These guys are playing for their paychecks and future paychecks. Now when it comes to organizations/GM's wanting to tank that's another story And Fidelio said it best they will play young inexperienced players to get a look at them in extended action and in return probably lose games. I would also think Coaches might experiment just a bit more than they normally would in their schemes.

UnitedWhoFans: I didn't say teams don't tank. I mean they don't tank intentionally. Maybe the last couple of games, but not where we are right now

Of course the Jets are not in a similar situation, but this shows you "tanking intentionally" is a ridiculous idea, just like I always said.
