Quote:I think I've seen the board's mods and longtime participants say this forth year was necessary because Gus didn't have any talent to work with his first three years. Well it looks like he still doesn't have any talent to work with. Defense still allowing the same numbers of points, offense still can't do anything.
Better sign Gus up for four more years and get rid of Caldwell so that Gus can truly get a fair chance to coach a team with enough talent to compete with mediocre teams like the tacks.
As one of those long time posters who advocated patience, I stand by the logic, even if the end results were not there.
Cleveland has changed coaches more frequently than some change underwear. The least successful franchises are riddled with instability.
Using my rationale, we gambled on Bradley and lost big time. But I'd rather gamble and lose on stability then gambling on a "strategy" that is a proven failure.

The way I see it you have to judge coaches on three things.
Player growth under their tutelage, scheme fit, and game preparation.
The way I see it Gus failed to show any ability in all three. We've seen little or no significant growth in players under him. Players that couldn't cover still can't cover, mediocre run stoppers like Cyprien are still mediocre run stoppers, etc.
He's so attached to his specific scheme that he would rather keep Myles Jack off the field than to adjust to his players.
I don't know that he's ever gotten the team prepared to beat any team the Jaguars have played. All of their wins seem to come against teams they either have significantly more talent than, or teams that had quit on their coach when the Jaguars played them.
I don't have a problem with the fact we let Gus come back this year, but now it's undeniable he's not getting it done. Now we're just procrastinating the inevitable
We know Gus can't make our average to poor side even average.
We don't have good assistant coaches
What is there to lose
