In the offseason last year I set a prediction range that I never swayed from. Several times as things changed I'd refine a more precise prediction, but it was always in the range of 8-8 plus or minus two games. At one point when it looked like they might struggle I was down to 6-10, but they haven't struggled. Now it appears they'll top my loftiest prediction of 10-6. I never really expected a Playoff berth this season, but now I'd be shocked if they don't get in.
BTW, as it ever so slightly relates, the day Coughlin was signed my wife made a prediction on her FB page that the Jaguars would make this year's Super Bowl.
If this team wins a playoff game I need to meet Tom Coughlin in person and give him a fat hug. What a guy that understands what pro football is about. Such a loyal and man of his word to go to Jacksonville and oversee things to get the team back on a winning track. Even if we don't win a Super Bowl he pretty much made Jaguars football meaningful again. Usually at this point it's just talk about the draft and not even what's going on during the season.

I don't think it's all TC. I think it's also largely Marrone plus the talent level finally reaching a point where we can win.
That said, I was watching the Colts game, and they showed Coughlin sitting up in the sky box next to Tony Khan, and Coughlin was busily taking notes, writing and writing and turning the page over and writing some more. I would love to see what he was writing. Probably something like:
Blake needs to pull his socks up.
Colts RCB shading Lee to the outside. Call a skinny post.
Why isn't Lee's shirt tail tucked in?
Gatorade coolers need to be moved a foot to the right.
Parnell needs to get lower on his run blocking. Emphasize that next week in practice.
What is the assistant quality control coach doing? He doesn't seem to be doing anything. And his shirt tail isn't tucked in.
[BLEEP] call on Ngakoue. Send protest to league.

In my eyes Coughlin is the guy who marries the coaching with the front office , makes everything structured and streamlined and basically makes sure everything is working how it's supposed to, even the little details.
The most important thing to be consistently good in the NFL is to have the front office and coaching working step in step. Bad teams always have rifts between the two. That's probably Coughlins most important role although we'll have to see how the next few years go.
Marrone and Caldwell deserve the most credit for now.

Of course I am just looking ahead here. If you look at numbers alone, 8-8 is possible, but I don't like that. Probability is not just mathematical in my book.
So you get all worked up over others spouting "opinions not based on facts" but anyone's supposed to care what's in your book? trollollolloll all the live long day.
Mathematically, this team could still finish 8-8, which is an even record. With a win against the Colts, this team did not guarantee a winning season. I guess facts don't mean that much to you. Can you back to the clots board now?

I never wavered from thinking it is division title or bust and we are more likely to win it than the Titans. But I was thinking 9-7, not 10-6. Now I will be shocked if we don't win two more games with the Texans and 49ers preceding the Titans game.

I can stop posting on the Colts board, but not this one. You don't have to like me, but you DO have to stop saying stuff like that about me in threads. I am only here to talk about football and you know that.
