is like a love-hate relationship.

Too many penalties, but yet so good in the kick game and punt return game and with creativity.

That said, what's up with the numerous holding/block in the backs on specials?

Coaching? Too aggressive? Guys just not thinking?
thoughts?
They need to be a bit more disciplined on those blocks and holds on ST but it's a frequently called penalty league wide.
Sixteen NFL teams have at least 17 penalties thus far on ST. The Jags have 20.
Thanks, bro! I thought it was a bit high, but didn't know how we stacked up against other teams.

#becauserefs

Didn't you see them hand the game to the Pats last night?
Lambo and Mickens have been studs.
Mickens is very good but I think we are also overlooking his fumble against the Texans. Thank god Corey Grant was there to cover it up. Can't have these types of mistakes in the playoffs.

I have had very few complaints about the Special teams play this year overall, especially since the Rams game.
IMO the illegal block in the back happens like 75% of returned kick offs. I don't think it's exclusive to our STs.
I always see it... guy goes to make a block, his guy gets upfield a lil bit before contact, and boom side/back push gets called.

I think it gets called for the most ticky tacky stuff of any flag to be honest.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln ....
It is nice to finally have a special teams unit that lose games. In years past I was afraid every kick / punt was going to get blocked. Every punt return was going to be a botched fumble.

Finally we can keep teams from blocking our kicks / punts. ( we have always had decent punters)
We have good punt coverage! could use help on kick off coverage but I think some of it is Lambo is not the strongest kick off specialist.
Lambo has been fantastic!
Our punt return game is great!

Considering that one game may make the difference between the 1st/2nd seed and a first round bye and 3rd seed...your point is spot on.
special special teams
Spot on opinion with the love hate. They make a lot of great plays but so many negative terrible plays. Nortman has been complete trash all season. It's like his leg strength fell off a cliff.

Nortman hasn't been quite as good, but neither has his coverage team.  We've missed the gunner duo of Benn and Thompson working together. Nortman has been good enough for the most part though. His 39 punts downed inside the 20 yard line tie him for tenth in the league.
I think the block in the back call last week was an error. I haven’t seen the replay so I could be wrong, but it looked like the blocker stuck his arms out and attempted to get in front of the defender, but the defender looked like he tried to turn away as the blocker was engaged in the block.

Maybe someone has a replay and can confirm it. Like someone else said, I think it happens all the time, they just choose to enforce some of them.
Norman does not have the distance of our opponents punters from what I have noticed. Just a casual observation.
