The Carolina-Atlanta game would be a VERY risky choice if New Orleans beats Atlanta, as well as Carolina beating Tampa Bay in week # 16. If this happens and New Orleans beats Tampa Bay in Week # 17, Carolina's only tangible incentive would be playing for a # 5 seed compared to a # 6 seed. Cam Newton and many of the other Panthers players could easily be on the bench as this game moves on, if not for the entire game.
If you go the 506 forum, There is a lot of postings on this. Right now it seems it is between us and the falcons game. The NFL does try to avoid a game where one team has nothing to play for, so if we clinch division this week, by the time the Sunday night game comes on, we may already know our seed.

Other possibilities I read could be the Patriots game or small chance of Steelers Browns since Cleveland could be playing for 0-16 and Steelers for bye week.

Man, as bad as we have been over the years, at least we have never been this bad. Their diehard fans are hardcore.

We were so bad the first year of the Bradley/Caldwell era and still considered one of the worst teams of modern era, but we still somehow won 4 games. That was the one year I thought 0-16 was possible. Gotta give credit to the Cleveland fans.

Yea. I was sitting there with them in the 30 degree weather with hail and 25 mph winds. Most of them stuck out the whole game. Idk if it be willing to sit through the crappy weather in Cleveland if my team were as [BLEEP] as the brownies.

One game that I believe is one of three ( Car.-Atl. and Jax.-Ten. are the others ) with a realistic chance of being the flexed game is Dallas at Philadelphia.

If Dallas beats Seattle tomorrow,  they will be alive going into # week # 17.  If Philadelphia beats Oakland on MNF and Minnesota wins their two games ( at GB, vs. Chi. ) as expected,  the Eagles will be playing for the # 1 NFC seed next Sunday.   Even if the Cowboys playoff chances end on Sunday Afternoon in week # 17,  I think they will be motivated to make a statement against an Eagles team if as expected has something to play for.  Also,  Dallas generates high ratings.

Having said this,  I hope the Jaguars get the opportunity to be playing on NBC next Sunday Night.

And it's not as if the Browns are playing really, really bad football like we were under Sprinkles. They've played some good tough games, but just can't seem to close it out.

I still wonder in amazement that we were able to win any games at all given how utterly unprepared we looked on the field. At times we did not look like a professional level team. Rock bottom was when Blake, literally, could not hit the ground with the football and no hope for the future with an addled-looking Gus on the sidelines.

When do they announce which game is flexed?

For week # 17,  the decision has to be done by 6 days in advance.  Hence, Monday is the deadline.

I'm assuming ( but not 100 % sure ) that the decision needs to be done by within minutes after the MNF game ends.

A correction from what I previously wrote.  Even though Minnesota beat Green Bay last night,  Philadelphia can clinch the # 1 seed in the NFC with a win over Oakland.  A few weeks ago when Minnesota and Philadelphia were tied with the best record in the NFC,  Minnesota held the tiebreaker.  That changed as a result of Minnesota's loss being at Carolina.  The Eagles now hold the tiebreaker,  based on Common Opponents record.  The Eagles beat the Panthers on a Thursday Night game earlier in the season.

If the Raiders upset the Eagles on the road on MNF,  then the Eagles will have plenty to play for if Minnesota as expected beats Chicago.
I work New Years Even overnights, so can we not do this? xd
They'll flex Dallas and Philly due to the ratings that game will draw.

Unless they can be absolutely sure the Jags at Titans game will mean something, they won't want that one, and they cannot be sure as of now. There's a pretty good chance the Jags will be locked into the #3 seed, and will have nothing to play for, so we will rest a lot of starters. Plus, Jags vs Titans isn't going to draw a lot of viewers on New Year's Eve.
C'mon guys, there isn't a late game next week. The season ends with the 4pm games.

The league doesn't schedule a Sunday Night game in advance for week 17 because they want to ensure they are airing a game with playoff implications, but one of that day's games will be flexed to that slot.
Or the league will just decide not to have a Sunday night game because most of the matchups and resulting playoff implications are still heavily tied to the outcomes of other games and they want those games played at the same time. Jags, bills and ravens have all been moved to 4 pm on Sunday. I think if the Titans had won today, our game would have been flexed to Sunday night because it would have been a division championship game.
