But StroudCrowd1 said they were paying 14% less in taxes, so if they are getting tax breaks, why are they closing? This makes no sense! Trump said the tax breaks would give Americans more money and protect jobs. Surely, he wouldn't lie to us?  Rolleyes (sarcasm)

It makes perfect sense to close unprofitable stores, especially when the facilities can be repurposed into profitable locations for other service lines. Econ 101 strikes home again.

Leaving that here. Raise wages by a hair, fire 7,500 people. Trump effect.

TJBender AKA "CNN" left this part out...

"Every Sam’s Club store employs about 150 workers, bringing the total number of affected jobs to about 7,500, the person said. Many of them will be accommodated in new jobs at the newly opened warehouses and other stores, the official said."

Did you even read the article that you linked?

Quote:Around 50 of those stores will be shut permanently after a review of profitability and up to 12 more will be shut and reopened as e-commerce warehouses, the person said.

Every Sam’s Club store employs about 150 workers, bringing the total number of affected jobs to about 7,500, the person said. Many of them will be accommodated in new jobs at the newly opened warehouses and other stores, the official said.

Earlier on Thursday, Walmart announced the wage hike, saying it would also offer a one-time cash bonus, based on length of service, of up to $1,000, and expand maternity and parental leave benefits.

So no, they aren't "firing" 7,500 people and a bonus, 10% pay raise and expanded benefits is pretty significant.
TJ, you should probably stick to your "Trump is a racist" threads because going after him on the economy isn't a very good look right now.

Honestly, the racist thing is pretty silly too. Never would've thought that Bender would lose his mind this way.

I hate whoever's in power almost as much as I hate the other guys.

We need a third party.

3rd party will never happen, so your best bet is a non politician running for office. Perhaps a successful business man who has porn stars on speed dial?

They are shutting them down cause Sams club basically offers nothing over Wal-Mart  sucks and is getting killed by Costco wherever they are head to head. Who goes to Sams over Costco? No one. And why would I pay a membership fee for basically bigger version of Walmart stuff that isn't any better?

Look you, corporations never do anything smart, they only do evil.

Anyone with a pulse can see what Costco is doing to other wholesale warehouse' business, right? I just assumed that. I go to Costco, and BJ's (closer proximity), but these guys can't compete with Costco. Wal-Mart is being smart and focusing on what they do best IMO.
