Scientist Says Alcohol Will Be Gone “in Another 10 or 20 Years”

Imagine a future where cars drive themselves, energy is clean and no one drinks alcohol. We’re already well on our way to the first two, and professor David Nutt at Imperial College in London believes an alcohol-free world is well underway as well.

I wish. I don't drink alcohol, never have due to family issues with it. I don't look down upon others who do, just don't drink it myself.
So will I if I keep drinkin the way I do
He says we will be drinking alcosynth, which is "hangover-free synthetic alcohol. "  It's his own invention.   And the idea that it is hangover-free is unproven.

So we are headed the way of Star Trek TNG. They have Synthehol - tastes like alcohol but without the side effects.

So, it's a race then? I accept the challenge.

Supposedly you can get drunk on alcosynth, but it won't give you a hangover.

I googled "synthehol" and is says it won't get you drunk.  What's the point of that?  Except now that I think of it I guess you don't want to be drunk when a Romulan Warbird uncloaks right in front of the Enterprise.
So what's the point in a self-driving car but to cart me home once I've downed a beer or 8?

Drunk without a hangover, and a self-driving car?   That would be fantastic.

Romulans are [BLEEP]. What's a couple drinks before a fight?

Reminds of the guy back in 1963 who said that tobacco would be gone in 10 or 20 years.
I'd better start stocking up.
