2018 is pretty set with most of the team under contract. Won't be seeing anything too surprising.

2019 is when the big boy decisions will need to be made. Very little to no dead money on most of the larger contracts. This is were we will start to see cap casualties. How they handle that offseason will be interesting

And Nortman must go with that 2.3 mill salary
You are high if you think this team is cutting Malik.

not 1 single defensive starter should be cut.. we have the 3rd most cap in the league, and we have plenty of guys we can cut and save money who do not have anywhere close to the impact malik has.... Ivory, hurns, lewis, though I would prefer to restructure and let him retire here.

Some times you guys get to cute with this salary cutting thing... Jackson and Dareus need to be here, as to all the rest of this defense.. sans colvin who if he signs a big deal elsewhere we can afford to let him go

no one else on the D should go anywhere

I don’t expect to see them cutting on defense.  Dareus will most likely get a reworked deal. The rest should be fine.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Colvin.  I suspect they’ll let him test the market and he’ll wind up getting CB money elsewhere.  I’m not banking on his return.  We’ve got guys to fill that role cheaper.

Ivory was gone by mid season when he was a healthy scratch for multiple games going into and including the playoffs.

I think they’ll find a way to rework Hurns deal in anticipation of a new contract for Robinson.  For ARob, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them give him a one year deal coming back from the injury.

On the offensive line, Omameh may be a guy they let walk if they can find an upgrade.

Overall, I think this team will come back mostly intact.  I don’t think they’re going to be big players in free agency this year, but they may make a splash.
agreed
If that thread about Cousins only wanting to match Matthew Staffords deal is true, then I want to get him. I do think Hurns and Dareus will need to be reworked, I might more Hurns to a lower base salary with escalators for performance. Lewis will be backc on a low dough deal I am sure. Same with Poz.

I have no idea what to do with ARob, hes probably not going to be as good coming off that ACL, but at the same time I would hate to lose him and see him light it up elsewhere. I guess I would do the transition tag for a year just to see what he looks like.

Franchise tag for WR is only 16.5 mil
Easy to swallow to see if AR can bounce back from ACL injury.
Besides the obvious guys I think Abry Jones could be in trouble.

Also heard Mike Kaye throw out the idea of paying Colvin to play FS and cutting Gipson, which is intriguing.

That sounds incredibly risky to me. Colvin is great when he can play on the LOS and be in run support and cover the shallow stuff, but when he got matched up on someone who could stretch the field he wasn't very good. Putting him in a position to have to make those types of plays all the time is scary.

No one is gonna steal him on the transition tag. No reason to pay franchise for a injured WR.
Nope, I trust the front office.

If other teams can make things work why can’t we? It’s not all doom and gloom.
