Miller has been injured like every year he's been in the NFL.

   I don't recall Reggie Hayward being close to the player prior to his Achilles injury.   IMO,  the injury derailed his career.

 

   Roy Miller is under contract through the 2018 season.

Because Reggie Hayward was not very good anyway and getting up in age, I could not tell how much he declined after returning from the injury.

When Odrick is not committing penalties he does a good job on the field. Fowler is the one we have to worry about in the penalty department.

  I disagree,   The Jaguars really missed his pass rush skills after the injury.

We might want to bring back TJ Barnes to backup Abry Jones.

It would have been more obvious to me if he was in his 20s. Unfortunately Roy Miller is not a young player either.

He's been one of the toughest, most durable players on the line, playing through injuries.

  Though it was brief,  I can't think of a Jaguars edge pass rusher who was more effective in the post-Tony Brackens era than Reggie Hayward.

Keep in mind that Miller III could be brought back as early as week 14, but this would only happen if three things occur...

1. He's healthy by then.
   
   
2. Nobody else is brought back first.
   
   
3. Somehow the Jaguars are in Playoff contention.

...and then there was that LB Greg Favors who excelled at DE playing out of position.


 

...but those were RDEs... Hayward at his best edged out Renaldo Wynn as the Jaguars best LDE since the great Joel Smeeeeeeeeeeeennngggeeeee.

Wait wait wait, are you saying Reggie Hayward was never good period? Are you kidding me? He and Paul Spicer were the life of the defensive line in that era. Hayward was good. Not elite, but good.

  I did indeed forgot about Bobby McCray's relatively brief success.    Though McCray probably was more of a pure/ effective pass rusher than Reggie Hayward,   my guess is Hayward was on the field much more because of his all around DE skills.

McCray, Spicer, and Hayward were the best DE's we've had since the 90's.

Hayward gets overlooked because he didn't have the sack count. He sure racked up qb pressures and hits tho, and his edge was always secure against the run with him in there.

  If Roy Miller remains on the Jaguars roster in 2017,  it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he begins Training Camp on the PUP list.   With the plan of trying to get him ready for the regular season opener if it looks feasible at the time.   If Miller's progress is slow,  he might end up on the Regular Season PUP list with the hope that he can contribute in the 2nd half of the season.   The next 6 to 9 months could easily be Miller's greatest challenge since he started playing football.

Paul Spicer is one of my all-time favorite players that played with the Jaguars.  I was very disappointed that the Lions let him go after the promise he displayed with the team.   Spicer overcame a small football school background,  with good ability and great intangibles.
