So with the Champions League winding up.. we're in the round of 16 stage.

Each tie has a home and away leg and away goals DO count..

This weeks results are:

Juventus 2-2 Tottenham
FC Basel 0-4 Man City
FC Porto 0-5 Liverpool
Real Madrid 3-1 PSG

Next week's fixtures are:

Bayern Munich v Beşiktaş
Chelsea v Barcelona
Sevilla v Man United
Shakhtar Donetsk v Roma

I can honestly see all of the English teams advancing to the next round and I could quite honestly see at least one of the semi-final match ups being an all-English tie.

Who watches this competition, and what are your thoughts on who will win?
Chelsea v Barca is going to be bad... we are sputtering pretty hard right now, then we have manu and manc right between that and the second leg. We may miss out of league next year if we keep this up.
The logistics here in the US is terrible for those matches.  Most come on at 2:45pm (eastern standard time) right at the height of the workday.  Sad
Recent first leg fixtures:

Bayern Munich 5-0 Beşiktaş
Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona
Sevilla 0-0 Manchester United
Shakhtar 2-1 Roma
Quarter final first legs this week:

Tonight:
Sevilla v Bayern Munich
Juventus v Real Madrid

Tomorrow:
Liverpool v Manchester City
Barcelona v Roma

Second legs next week.
Way to go, Roma.

Would love seeing Roma play against Liverpool.

On a side note, Messi is overrated.

Disappears in big matches for Argentina and Barcelona.

I'd agree the system at Argentina doesn't always work for him, but I'd totally disagree about with Barca. I know he wasn't great last night, but all players have off days.

Definitely the best player of my generation, in my opinion.

I mean, at very very worst he's the #2 player in the world (most would regard him as #1 but you can certainly argue about Ronaldo).

Best player I've ever seen kick a ball.

I have exactly the same view.

It's hard to compare Messi & Ronaldo because they're both very different types of players.

Personally, I find Messi much, much more exciting.

How long have you been following football?

For me, 25 years.

In that time, I've been blessed to see:

Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo
Paul Scholes
Andres Iniesta
Lionel Messi
Ryan Giggs
David Beckham
Thierry Henry
Zinedine Zidane
Luis Figo
Kaka
Dennis Bergkamp
Alan Shearer..

All live - and many, many more "greats". Messi tops them, for me.

Honourable mention for Paul Scholes, a horribly underrated and unbelievable player.

LOL .... yep, he's overrated.  He's not #1.  He's #2

Once could say that he's twice as overrated as his current world ranking.

Landon Donovan used to run circles around Messi.  Smile    World Cup 2022 !!  USA !!! USA !!!

Looks like I got my wish.

Roma vs Liverpool, Salah vs Džeko

Bayern vs Real, Ronaldo vs Lewandowski

I love Bayern but Real have to be favorites. Hopefully they avenge last seasons loss to Real.
I think it'll be Liverpool v Real in the final.

I think this would be the best game possible there too.. what a game it would be..
Liverpool waxed Roma but Roma got 2 away goals

So far Roma hasn’t been scored on in Rome during this champions league campaign so the second leg isn’t going to be a cakewalk at all for Liverpool

Absolutely.. I think Liverpool can score at Roma, personally, and if they’re 1-0 up (6-2 on aggregate) early on, I just can’t see Roma scoring 4 to win the match on sway goals..

It’s absolutely not a foregone conclusion, though, I totally agree. Very interesting match.

So...

Liverpool v Real Madrid it is... should be a good one! I certainly can't see it being 1-0..
