As I see it the team has three Safeties they know they want... Gipson at FS, Church at SS, and Wilson who subs at both spots.

They can use one, if not two, more Safeties. One option is to re-sign our backup FS Peyton Thompson for what should be a cheaper free agent contract, but he makes me a little nervous when he's out there. Even if we do re-sign Thompson, should we make room for a 5th S as many teams carry five? Do we draft some diamond in the rough S in round 7?

I wonder if it's even possible to make a plan at that level of detail.  Opportunities come along, you draft the best players you can find, you go to camp with 90 players, and you whittle it down to 53.  Then you know how many backup safeties you have.   You just can't predict these things in March or even plan them.   In August, you wind up with a choice between a 5th safety, a 6th linebacker, or a 5th defensive end, and it depends on the relative quality and desirability of the players involved, what their contract looks like, how well they play special teams, how old they are, etc.  There are so many moving parts, especially at the level of 5th safety.
